VOLUNTEER INSPECTION PROGRAM ...
Moore brought up that a team concept could be a more useful manner of
notification with a citizen patrol bringing addresses and problems to the attention
of Code Enforcement. Ideas should be brought to next meeting. Todd Allen and
his guest, Rick Flanagan, stated there are garage sales every weekend at the same
residences. There should be a change in enforcement and in a more aggressive
way.
CITIZEN REFERRALS TO COMMITTEE DISCUSSION ...
Parsons stated Code Enforcement could send letter on Englewood's letterhead.
Even if landlord is out of town, CEO can summons to court. There is a house on
South Logan that has trash and junk on lawn daily. CEO could write up first
approach, talk to person involved and explain the possibility of court. The
committee could testify in court if needed. Collins stated this is where we get into
problem solving techniques and at the same time, community policing. This
would incorporate other arms of the city voluntarily or involuntarily. Parsons
informed group that the new judge is very eager to work with the city staff and
will back us. Flanagan stated we should have volunteers for the elderly faced with
code enforcement problems (snow removal etc.) and will attempt to get some.
Parsons endorsed this endeavor. Moore recommended that if EFOT has problem
areas identified, they could call them to Moore or Code Enforcement Supervisor.
OLD BUSINESS ...
Don Roth stated that January 19th, there is a public hearing on mandatory trash
removal at the council meeting, 7:30 P.M., by Clean Green and Proud.
NEW BUSINESS ...
A calling tree was suggested to notify members of upcoming meetings. Meetings
will be scheduled for third Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. Moore will call Nancy Reid
and Harold Stitt and request they attend the next meeting. (A copy of member
roster was faxed to Todd Allen).
Next meeting is January 2J51 (Third Wednesday) at 7:00 P.M.
Meeting adjourned 8:25 P.M.
