TODD ALLEN, DONNA JOHNSON, DONALD ROTH & GERALD STANKORB were sworn in . ELECTION OF OFFICERS; CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR ... Unable -lack of quorum. ASSISTANT CITY ATTORNEY NANCY REID TO DISCUSS CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE INVOLVEMENT IN ENFORCEMENT OF CODES ... NANCY REID was unable to attend. December 17, 1997 CEAC Page Two VOLUNTEER INSPECTION PROGRAM ... Moore brought up that a team concept could be a more useful manner of notification with a citizen patrol bringing addresses and problems to the attention of Code Enforcement. Ideas should be brought to next meeting. Todd Allen and his guest, Rick Flanagan, stated there are garage sales every weekend at the same residences. There should be a change in enforcement and in a more aggressive way. CITIZEN REFERRALS TO COMMITTEE DISCUSSION ... Parsons stated Code Enforcement could send letter on Englewood's letterhead. Even if landlord is out of town, CEO can summons to court. There is a house on South Logan that has trash and junk on lawn daily. CEO could write up first approach, talk to person involved and explain the possibility of court. The committee could testify in court if needed. Collins stated this is where we get into problem solving techniques and at the same time, community policing. This would incorporate other arms of the city voluntarily or involuntarily. Parsons informed group that the new judge is very eager to work with the city staff and will back us. Flanagan stated we should have volunteers for the elderly faced with code enforcement problems (snow removal etc.) and will attempt to get some. Parsons endorsed this endeavor. Moore recommended that if EFOT has problem areas identified, they could call them to Moore or Code Enforcement Supervisor. OLD BUSINESS ... Don Roth stated that January 19th, there is a public hearing on mandatory trash removal at the council meeting, 7:30 P.M., by Clean Green and Proud. NEW BUSINESS ... A calling tree was suggested to notify members of upcoming meetings. Meetings will be scheduled for third Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. Moore will call Nancy Reid and Harold Stitt and request they attend the next meeting. (A copy of member roster was faxed to Todd Allen). Next meeting is January 2J51 (Third Wednesday) at 7:00 P.M.
