Englewood Code Enforcement Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes July 21, 2004 Call to Order Chairman Crowell in the City Council Conference Room called the regular meeting of the Englewood Code Enforcement Advisory Committee to order at 6:45 p.m. Roll Call Members Present: Jonathan Crowell, Michael Callahan, Darryl Estes , Dooley Gehr, Jim Goodrich, Chris Hoagland, Cynthia Payne and alternate member Paul Hendricks (arrived at 7 :00 p.m.) Others Present: Laurett Barrentine, Council Liaison, Michael Flaherty, Assistant City Manager and Lieutenant Jeff Sanchez, Safety Services Department Guests : None A quorum was present. Assistant City Manager Flaherty swore in new members Gehr and Payne . Approval of Minutes Member Gehr moved approval of the meeting minutes of June 16 , 2004 , Member Hoaglund seconded. The motion carried. III. Open Public Forum No one was present for the public forum. IV. Vote for new Vice-Chairperson/Treasurer The chair called for nominations for the position of Vice Chair. Member Goodrich nominated Member Hoaglund. No other nominations were made. The committee voted unanimously to approve Member Hoagland as Vice Chair. V. Old Business Member Hoaglund asked about the language in the Inoperable Vehicle Ordinance relative to storage of vehicles in side yard. The ordinance states that one off-road vehicle may be stored in the side yard and one addition off-road vehicle may be stored in the rear yard on a permanent surface. Lieutenant Jeff Sanchez presented and discussed a re-draft of the Code Enforcement Notice of Violation. Member Hoagland suggested one grammatical and one sentence structure change . 1 of2 • • • VI. VII. Revision of the CEAC b y-laws was briefly discussed, then tabled for discussion during the August meeting. Monthly Activity Report Lieu tenant Sanchez presented the monthly Code E nforcement activity report. Significant activities included 102 public contacts regarding ino perable vehicles. E nforcement on this ordinance resumed on July 1 '1, except on trailer s, due to a questio n of interpretation. That interpret.'ltion has now been provided in that the ordinance applies only to "utility" trailers, and not to motor homes. New Business Council Member Barrentine informed the committee of the recent promotion of Jeff San chez to Lieu tenant. Lieuten ant Sanch ez will supervise the Neighborhood Servic es Division of Safety Services, which includes the Code Enforcement, Traffic and Community Relations units. Committee members congratulated Lieutenant Sanchez and expressed their p leasure that he would retain code enforcement responsibilities . VIII. Topics for Future M e etings The discussion of C EAC by-laws was the only topic for the A ugust meeting presented. IX.
