Minutes from the Meeti ng of
May 20, 2009
CALL TO ORDER
~ The regular meeting of the Englewood Code Enforcement Advisory Committee
was called to order at 6:31 p.m. by Chair Mosman.
Roll Call
Present: Chair Mosman and Members Bayless, Becker, Hart, Hinger and Hoagland
and Wilson .
A quorum was present.
Ex-Officio Members Present: Council Liaisons Mccaslin and Staff Liaisons Sergeant
Contos
Ex-Officio Members Absent: Penn and Flaherty
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
~ Member Hinger made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 15, 2009
meeting. This was seconded by Member Hoagland. There being no changes, the
minutes were approved as submitted.

NEW BUSINESS

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
a. ~ Report from committee members on potential trash and litter programs
Topics discussed including finding volunteers to assist with litter programs,
including maps of trails on web site, encouraging residents to participate in litter
and trash pickup in the City including trails and who owns trails in the City. This
topic will be discussed next meeting .
b. ~"Training and ownership issues for at-risk/dangerous dogs
Hart provided information concerning training and ownership issues for at-risk or
dangerous dogs. Wilson suggested adding the name of Shannon Davies as an
additional source. Discussion ensued concerning testing of at-risk /dangerous
dogs with Municipal Court. Wilson will communicate with Municipal Court the •
concerns of removing dogs from the at-risk/dangerous dogs list.
c. t ~ Update on adding the neighborhood services-code enforcement brochure
to the website
Mosman provided information concerning code enforcement for the website for
residents . This topic will be discussed next month .
d. ftJJ_ View Oprah Winfrey segment on the Colorado Humane Society animal
shelter
Penn was not present to discuss this tC?pic.
VI. CODE ENFORCEMENT MONTHLY REPORT
~ Contos commented on graffiti in the City, animal enforcement, code
enforcement statistics, spring weed growth from spring rains and current activities.
Discussion ensued . Topics included property owners ' responsibility for compliance
with ordinances, noxious weeds and positive reinforcement for positive
efforts /improvements.
·e Wilson commented on the Community Gardens meeting on June 9, 2009, at
the Malley Center. Topics included volunteers, fund-raising, plots, compost and
resources from Denver Urban Gardens.
fl Contos commented on a temporary lack of funds for abatement of property
and procedural changes for abatements due to budgetary issues . Discussion
ensued.
!fl1 Contos also mentioned that code enforcement staff has been reduced by one
officer and the district coverage has been reorganized to accommodate the staffing
shortage . He also invited Code Enforcement Advisory Committee members to ride
along with the Code Enforcement Officers.
VII. TOPICS FOR FUTURE MEETINGS
Becker would like an update of abatements for July, 2009, meeting.
VIII. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:55p.m .
