CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION
Minutes of January 5, 2011
The regular monthly meeting of the City of Englewood Cultural Arts Commission was
called to order at 5 :45pm by Chairperson Bertoluzzi at the Community Development
Conference Room.

II. REVIEW OF AGENDA
• Bertoluzzi asked if there were any changes or additions to the agenda. There were none .

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Bertoluzzi asked if there were any changes or corrections to the minutes of
December 1, 2010. There were none. The minutes were approved as
presented.
IV. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS
There were no guests .
V. NEW BUSINESS
Bertoluzzi discussed Carol McGuigan's reassignment to the Malley Senior Recreation
Center. Discussion followed regarding who will be responsible for Hampden Hall.
Recreation Manager Hultberg stated that Deputy City Manager Mike Flaherty will be the
contact regarding Hampden Hall at this time.
Bertoluzzi discussed Englewood Arts collaboration with the School District regarding the
New Frontiers grant. Bertoluzzi explained the grant funding will end this year which will
be celebrated May 1 ih with an art exhibit at Hampden hall. Discussion followed regarding
volunteer or possibly paid help in setting up the show. Bertoluzzi said that he will
coordinate for Englewood Arts and the School District. Several commission members also
volunteered to help.
VI. OLD BUSINESS
Commission Member Schnitzer gave an update on the community garden. Schnitzer
reported that the garden Steering Committee met with Parks and Recreation to wrap up the •
2010 season and plan for 2011. Schnitzer stated that most gardeners have indicated that
they will return in 2011. Discussion followed regarding the Cultural Arts Commission
purchasing public art for the garden through the one percent public art fund .
VII. COMMITTEE REPORTS
There was no update for Public Art .
Bertoluzzi reported that Englewood Arts school program, Strings Attached, is very stable
and growing under the direction of Coordinator Ben Tomkins .
VIII. UPCOMING EVENTS
Bertoluzzi announced that the next Englewood Arts concert, "CSO Winds" will be at 2pm
on Saturday, January 29 111 at Hampden Hall.
IX. DIRECTOR'S CHOICE
There were no items for Director's Choice.
X. COMMISSION MEMBERS CHOICE
City Council Liaison Jill Wilson discussed the City's budget and told the Commission that
she hopes the next financial report will show strong tax revenue. Wilson discussed the
upcoming Economic Development study and other City sponsored programs. Wilson
announced that the Art Bus will continue due to several business donors stepping forward .
Commission Member Stewart announced she will have a show in the Library with Mama 's
Belly.
Tammy Emmanuel, Alternate Member, reported that she is currently volunteering with Art
Reach and that they will have a fundraiser in March . Emmanuel stated that she is looking
for donations of art .
Schnitzer told the Commission that she had submitted photographs of the Englewood
community garden to Tri County Health Department per its request.
Commission Member Kenney discussed her efforts to incorporate a candlelight walk into
the Civic Center holiday event in addition to her interest in National Night Out.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:30pm.
