CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION
Minutes of December 5, 2012
I. Call to Order
The regular monthly meeting of the City of Englewood Cultural Arts Commission was
called to order at 5:50pm by Chairperson Kristy Reed at the City Council Conference
Room at the Civic Center building , 1000 Englewood Parkway.

II. Review of Agenda
There were no changes or additions to the agenda .
Ill. Approval of Minutes
Chairperson Reed asked if there were any changes or corrections
to the minutes of October 3, 2012 . There were none. The minutes
were approved as presented.
Reed asked if there were any changes or corrections to the minutes
of November 7, 2012. There were none. The minutes were
approved as presented.
IV. Introduction of Guests
There were no guests present.
V. New Business
There were no items for New Business.
VI. Old Business
A. Recreation Manager Joe Sack informed the Board that the Hampden Hall projector
has been installed and now through next month will be used for training of staff. Sack
told board members that he will try to arrange a time during the February meeting to
take them down and show them the projector.
B . Discussion turned to an update on cataloguing of art. Sack told board members that
he wanted to remind them that it still needs to be done and will be a project for next
year. Sack explained that there has been a shortage of staff which has delayed the
project getting going . Discussion followed. Sack went on to explain that the
cataloguing of art will include the where information such as where it is located, the
artist, the purchase cost, a photograph , etc. Sack stated that MOA Representative
Tim Vacca has helped with the project.
Reed brought up that Youth Member Sellaro has an interest in photography so maybe
she would be interested with helping to photograph the art. Reed asked if the
information will be on the City's website for the public to view . Sack replied no, that it
will be for City use only , as a reference . Reed stated that she would propose that it
be made available to the public . Sack told Reed that once all of the information is put
together they can decide if it would be beneficial to make it available to the public .
Sack noted that if they decide to make it public, then it may need to include artwork
across the City.
VII. Committee Reports
A. There was no update for Public Art.
B. Vice Chairperson Schnitzer informed the Board of the December 15th Englewood Arts
concert, Baroque Christmas.
C. Black gave a brief update on last month's Parks and Recreation Commission meeting .
VIII. Upcoming Events
There were no upcoming events . Discussion followed in regard to the Denver Art
Museum's Van Gogh exhibit.
IX. Director's Choice
Discussion turned to the two Englewood Schools liaisons, Kate Dulaney and Mary Lynn
Baird , who share the position of Englewood Schools Liaison to the Cultural Arts
Commission . Black told the Board that as they are aware, both Dulaney and Baird have
been unable to attend meetings this past year or more so Chairperson Reed has sent
them a letter to see if they are still interested in filling their position as Liaison. Black said
that Baird has replied back that due to her schedule she is unable to continue as an
Englewood School representative. Black said that they have not heard from Dulaney.
Black informed the Board that the January meeting will be on January 2nd and both he,
Sack and possibly Recording Secretary Debby Severa will be out of the office and unable
to attend the meeting. Black stated that they can see if other staff could fill in for them or
suggested postponing the meeting to another date.
A motion was made by Commission Member Kenney and seconded by
Chairperson Reed to move the January Cultural Arts Commission meeting back a
week to Wednesday, January gth_

In regard to the situation with the Englewood Schools Liaisons, Reed asked if there is
any other reason besides being very busy. Black explained that both Baird and Dulaney
have a lot going on and at one point were going to resign but they were able to talk them
into sharing the position.
Black wished everyone a happy holiday season.
X. Commission Member's Choice
Alternate Member Amy Martinez reported that she is still working with her friend on the
piece of public art and contacting Community Development regarding the Art Shuttle.
Sack reminded board members of the upcoming holiday events including Breakfast with
Santa on December 81h and Santa Calling on December 1ih.
Commission Member Emmanuel informed the Board that her mother has received the
ArtReach Award, one of the most prestigious art awards for Colorado. Emmanuel also
reported that her father serves on the Council for Greenwood Village Arts who recently
did an Art Search/Scavenger Hunt and suggested that it is something the Board could
consider. Board members agreed that it is a great idea.
Wilson updated board members on new development projects in the City including the
Kent Place project, plans for the Flood Middle School property and Craig Hospital. Wilson
also told the Board that at next week's City Council meeting , City Council will be
discussing the possibility of the City of Englewood 's Fire Department merging with
Littleton Fire.
Black reported that last night he had attended a community meeting at Englewood Middle
School regarding plans for the new Alternative High School at the current Middle School.
Reed thanked everyone for their service and wished them a happy holiday.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:24p.m.
