Min utes of N ove mb er 5, 2008
Black informed the Commission that there is not a quorum for tonight's meeting. Black explained that a
meeting could be held to discuss items but that they could not do any official business . Commission
members agreed to hold the meeting.
I. CALL T O ORD E R
The regular monthly meeting of the City of Englewood Cultural Arts Commission was called to
order at 5:45pm by D irector Black at the Civic Center City Council Conference Room.

II. REVIEW O F AGENDA
There were no changes or additions to the agenda.
III. AP PROVAL O F MINUTES
Due to the lack of a quorum, the approval of minutes for the October 1, 2008 meeting would be
postponed to the December meeting .
IV. INT ROD UCTI O N O F GUESTS
There were no guests present.
V. NEW BUS INESS

O L D B US INESS
Discussion turned to Art on Broadway. Commission Member Stewart stated that Sean Doherty is
finishing up on his artwork for the planters downtown which should be up by mid-November.
Stewart repo11ed that BID has ordered holiday lights and banners and the word is that this year 's
holiday lights will be different compared to previous years.
In regard to last month 's discussion concerning the lack of identification for the artwork in Hampden
Hall , Black infonned the Commission that Carol McGuigan ha s been working with Public Works on
the project which is near completion.
VII. COMMITTEE REPORTS
There was no update for Public A11, Englewood Arts or the Parks and Recreation Commission.
VIII. UPCOMING EVENTS
MOA Representative , Tim Vacca, announced that the opening reception for Magic Lantern will be
tom otTow evening, Thursday, November 6th. Commission Member Enger reminded the
Commission that Monday, November 17 th is Calendar Al1ist Recognition with City Council.
Discus s ion followed regarding the Top 50 Artist Reception and how well it went. Vacca repo11ed
that Duo has been repaired and is now completed with the bench, plaque and landscaping .
IX. DIRECTOR'S CHOICE
Black announced that holida y hors d'oeu vres will be served prior to next month 's meeting
beginning at 5:30pm.
Bla ck discussed the Landscape and Fine Al1s Fund that was established as part of a landscape
requirement for new development in the City of Englewood. Bl ack explained that the fund has
approximately $69,000 and the Depanment has been speaking with City Council in regard to
ways to use the funds. Black went on to explain that City Council has approved to allocate fund s
to replace the decorative light globes on South Bro adway in addition to some electrical repairs and
splitting the cost of holida y lighting . Di scuss ion followed regarding the holid ay lighting in
addition to other improvements along the South B roadway CotTidor including the replacement of
trees.
