OLD BUSINESS
In regard to last months discussion on the Cultural Arts Commission initiating a letter to RTD in
support of the art shuttle and it continuing to run at no or little cost to its users, Director Black
stated that he had spoken to Harold Stitt with Community Development. Stitt told Black that the
City will be presenting a letter to RTD 's Board in late spring to early summer and suggested that it
would be a good time to submit the letters together. Black stated that staff would do a draft letter
for the Commission to review in May. Discussion followed. Black suggested that the Commission
ask Stitt to attend next month's Commission meeting to discuss what the City plans to do with the
art shuttle prior to the Commission writing its letter. Commission members concurred with Black. •
Black reported that he had also spoken to Bob Simpson, Director of Community Development, on
the Commission's thought of using the sunflowers purchased through the Art in Public Places fund
as an Entry Port Monument on South Broadway. Black said that Simpson told him that
Community Development is currently negotiating with an Englewood business to sponsor an Entry
Port Monument for South Broadway and suggested that the Commission wait to see what happens.
Commission Member Schnitzer asked Black that if the business agrees to sponsor art for the Entry
Port Monument, will it come through the Commission prior to being purchased. Black replied yes.
