The regular monthly meeting of the City of Englewood Cultural Arts Commission was called to order
at 5:45pm by Chairperson Bertoluzzi at the City Council Conference Room at the Civic Center.

REVIEW OF AGENDA
There were no changes to the agenda .
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairperson Bertoluzzi asked if there were any changes to the minutes of July 6, 2005. There
were none. The minutes were approved as presented.
IV. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS
There were no guests.
V. NEW BUSINESS
Black reminded commission members of the Board and Commission Appreciation Night on August
22, 2005, at 6:30pm at Romans Park.
Black gave an update on the Sheridan Redevelopment project, informing the Commission that the City
of Englewood has accepted a proposal by Miller Weingarten for the Sheridan Urban Renewal to begin
formal negotiations to use a portion of the golf course by shifting it westward for a development
project. Commission members were told that a public meeting was held on July 271h to discuss the
proposal and the impact to the golf course. Discussion followed regarding the key points to the deal.
Commission members were told that at Monday night's City Council meeting, City Council voted to
move forward with negotiations for a provision that the City receive a deposit of$150,000 from Miller
Weingarten for legal and bond services . Black noted that the City of Englewood would not be putting
• any money out for the project.
Commission Member Bartunek asked ifthere was any plan to place artwork in the redeveloped area.
Black explained that the project is not in the City's jurisdiction or a City development and that it
would be between the developer and the Sheridan Urban Renewal Authority.
In regard to the Funfest/Olde Tyme Fair and a Cultural Arts Commission/Englewood Arts booth,
Schnitzer announced that she has had conversation with Harold Stitt and that they can move forward
with the bus stop bench project. Discussion followed regarding design ideas for the benches to be
done at the Olde Tyme Fair booth.
V. OLD BUSINESS
Discussion followed the cultural space and actual cost to complete the space. Wolosyn stated that the
cost to complete the space has come back at $480,000, which includes the stage but not all the build
out areas. Wolosyn discussed the build-outs escalating the cost and opportunity down the line to add
those back in. The Commission was told that $100,000 would be taken from the land bank and
transferred back to it when the first of the Denver Seminary tax is received. In addition, contributin
from the Conservation Trust Fund and Englewood Arts would complete the funding necessary for the
project. Commission members were told that the project will start immediately and should be
completed by March 2006 .
VII. COMMITTEE REPORTS

MOA Representative Meredith Wortzel gave an update on the Art at Shuttle Stops project. Wortzel
informed the Commission that there are still a few shuttle stops with no artwork. Wortzel discussed
the sites being ones that are more difficult to get artwork to fit in so a group has come up with some
prerequisites for each site. Wortzel discussed the call for entries for the remaining sites and foregoing
the entry fee in hopes of bringing in more entries. Discussion followed . •
Bertoluzzi reported that Englewood Arts ' annual meeting will be held on August 16th at 4pm.
Bertoluzzi told the Commission that Englewood Arts will be starting its mini-capital campaign and
would appreciate any information in regard to potential donors .
There was no update for the Parks and Recreation Commission .
VIII. UPCOMING EVENTS
Commission members were invited to the Stairway to Heaven performance at the Englewood
Amphitheater on Saturday, August 6th at 8pm.
IX. DIRECTOR'S CHOICE
There were no items for Director's Choice.
X. COMMISSION MEMBERS' CHOICE
Gary Hultberg, Recreation Manager, announced there are only two remaining Sounds of Summer
concerts for the summer. Hultberg noted that the August 23rd concert would be a tribute to Jess
Gerardi.
Wolosyn distributed information on the Keep Englewood Beautiful 2"d Annual 5K Run Walk that will
be held prior to the Olde Tyme Fair. •
