CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION
Minutes of June 2, 2004
The regular monthly meeting of the City of Englewood Cultural Arts Commission was called to order at
5:50pm by Vice Chairperson Moore at the City Council Conference Room at the Civic Center building.

II. REVIEW OF AGENDA
Vice Chairperson Moore asked ifthere were any changes to the agenda. There were none .
• III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Vice Chairperson Moore asked if there were any changes or additions to the minutes of
May 5, 2004. There were none. The minutes were approved as presented.
IV. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS
There were no guests .
V. NEW BUSINESS
Commission Member Stewart said that she heard that they are looking for artists for the Farmer's
Market that is being held at City Center on Saturdays. Wolosyn, City Council Liaison, told Stewart that
it correct and that she would gather more information and forward it to her.
VI. OLD BUSINESS
Discussion moved on to the Dala Horse project. Stewart announced that the Cultural Arts Commission
is currently painting their horse. Wolosyn added that the horse would be on display for a Swedish
Auxiliary event next week .
Commission Members were updated on Art at the Shuttle Stops. Commission Member Schnitzer
reported that Tacito was present at the last Steering Committee meeting to discuss pedestals for the
artwork. Commission members were informed that the deadline for submitting proposals is June 141h
and that there has been little response . Discussion followed whether to extend the deadline . Vice
Chairperson Moore noted that installation of the artwork that is received now would begin on July 26 1h.
Wolosyn turned discussion over to the PEAK Kick-Off Event scheduled for Saturday, August 21st at
City Center. Wolosyn noted that the City of Englewood would be a major sponsor of the event.
Wolosyn spoke in regard to the participation of Englewood students. Discussion followed. •
There were no upcoming Englewood Arts events.
VII. COMMITTEE REPORTS
Director Black gave an update on the May Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.
There was no additional information on PEAK.
Moore announced that the Strings Attached end of year concert was very impressive and that the kids
did a great job. Moore stated that excellent responses were received from the schools.
Wolosyn spoke in regard to money received by Englewood Arts including a $5,000 grant. Wolosyn
discussed the possibility of next year's Saturday Chamber Series having more of a family component.
Moore discussed a joint booth between Englewood Arts and PEAK for the August 28th Fun Fest event.
VIII. DIRECTOR'S AND COMMISSION MEMBERS' CHOICE
Commission members were informed that a letter was sent to Commission Member Howard requesting
a formal letter ofresignation. Black went on to explain that the letter from Howard was received and
has been forwarded on to City Council so that her position can be filled in the upcoming Board and
Commission interviews. Discussion followed.
Wolosyn announced that David Taylor would be speaking to City Council at the June 21st meeting in
regard to his financial status.
Stewart informed the Commission that she has finished four pieces of art for Charles Hay Elementary.
Stewart explained that enough money was saved where an additional piece of art will be added in the
fall.
Hultberg announced the Sounds of Summer concert series would begin in two weeks at the City Center
Amphitheater; noting that the Kidstage series will run on Tuesday evenings July 6th to 27th.

The meeting was adjourned at 6: 15pm.
