CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION
Minutes of May 5, 2004
The regular monthly meeting of the City of Englewood Cultural Arts Commission was called to order at
5:57pm by Vice Chairperson Moore at the City Council Conference Room at the Civic Center building.

II. REVIEW OF AGENDA
Vice Chairperson Moore asked ifthere were any changes to the agenda . There were none .
• III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Vice Chairperson Moore asked if there were any changes or additions to the minutes of
April 7, 2004. There were none. The minutes were approved as presented.
IV. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS
There were no guests.
V. NEW BUSINESS
There were no items for discussion for New Business.
VI. OLD BUSINESS
Discussion began on the Swedish Shots for Tots project. City Council Liaison Wolosyn announced that
the Dala Horses have been delivered but has not heard anything. Wolosyn stated that she will follow-up
when she has more information.
Schnitzer gave a report on the first Art at the Shuttle Stops Steering Committee meeting. Wolosyn
discussed whether a stipend should be offered to the artist for the first year. Moore reported that a Call
for Artists is being put together with the plan that installation of the pieces of art will begin in July with
a grand unveiling following in November .
Committee members announced that the PEAK Kick-Off Event is scheduled for Saturday, August 21 51

Wolosyn stated that she would like to see the Cultural Arts Commission involved with the event.
Commission members were told of a silent auction that will feature art from local artists. Dulaney noted
that the teachers participating in the program would be attending planning sessions and workshops the
first week in August.
Discussion followed regarding upcoming events.
VII. · COMMITTEE REPORTS
Commission members were informed that the Parks and Recreation Commission met with City Council
for the May meeting.
Wolosyn announced that the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan would be postponed for a
couple of months.
VIII. DIRECTOR'S AND COMMISSION MEMBERS' CHOICE
Commission members were reminded of the Pirates Cove tour scheduled for Saturday, May 81h at
lO:OOa.m. Black noted that the sculpture has been installed.
Black announced that the Department of Parks and Recreation has been selected as a Gold Medal
Finalist for the third year in a row.
Recreation Manager Hultberg discussed advertisement for summer activities at the City Center
Amphitheater in the Light Rail cars .
Discussion followed regarding Fun Fest on Saturday, August 28 1h at Belleview Park.
VIII. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 6:25pm.
