Chairman Neyer asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of February
11, 1993. There were none. A motion was made and seconded that the minutes be approved as
presented. The motion passed unanimously.
Director Esterly reported that the purchase of the Mossbarger property adjacent to Baker Park
has been finalized, and discussed development possibilities for the additional land. Esterly stated that
the Englewood Soccer Association is requesting construction of an additional soccer field at that
location, but explained that the area available would not accommodate a full size soccer field without
eliminating or reducing the size of existing facilities. Esterly described the existing playground area
at the Alternative High School located south of Baker Park and stated that the school might be willing
to turn over the use of the land to be developed into additional park facilities and possibly a soccer
field if combined with the Mossbarger property . Esterly suggested that the Commission may wish to
survey the neighboring community and park users for input regarding expansion of the park, and
suggested using survey cards or extending an invitation to attend the April Commission meeting. The
Commission agreed that survey cards should be distributed in the surrounding area, along with an
invitation to attend the April Commission meeting for additional information and citizen input.
Officials from the Alternative High School will also be contacted, and a notice will be posted at Baker
Park to inform park users of expansion plans and welcome their input at the April Commission
meeting.
