POLICE PENSION BOARD MEETING
April 12, 2001
The regular meeting of the Englewood Police Pension Board was called to order by Board
Member Norm Wood, at 1:35 p.m. in Community Development Conference Room, Civic
Center, 1000 Englewood Parkway.

Mr. Wood welcomed Mr. Egri to the Police Officers Pension Board.

MR. GR YGLEWICZ MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR
MEETING OF OCTOBER 12, 2000 AND THE SPECIAL MEETING OF NOVEMBER 15,
2000. MR. WOOD SECONDED.

The Board reviewed the quarterly and annual statements from the Fire and Police Pension
Association. The Board discussed the 2000 earnings .
Review of 2000 meeting attendance.
The Board reviewed the 2000 meeting attendance roster.

Consideration of Survivors Benefit for Juanita Urban.
Bobby Urban. retired police officer. passed away during February 2000. Ms. Wescoat stated
that she had provided the Board an incorrect benefit payment amount when Mrs. Urban's
benefit was approved. She also stated there were additional mistakes made by the Fire and
Police Pension Association, that required further correction.
MR. GRYGLEWICZ MOVED TO APPROVE THE CORRECTION OF MRS. JUANITA
URBAN'S BENEFIT. MAYOR BURNS SECONDED.

Consideration of request from David Miller.
David Miller requested the Board include prior service credit with Commerce City and the
City of Englewood to be app li ed toward his deferred vested benefit. Documentation
presented indicates that Mr. Miller was with Commerce City February 16, 1973 to August
29 , 1973. He received a refund of his contributions in the amount of $174.70.
Mr. Miller also served as a police officer with Englewood from September 1, 1973 to May
15 , 1977. He received a refund of his contributions in the amount of $2,264.37. Mr. Miller
was rehired on March 1, 1978 and left the City December 2, 1994. He currently has a
deferred vested benefit for his service time.
Discussion ensued regarding Mr. Miller's prior service eligibility and the refund of his
contributions. The Board also discussed similar cases where they awarded service credits to
Allen Stanley, Thomas Vandermee , Robert Holmes, Larry Leydon, and others that were
Englewood officers .
Mr. Wood suggested that the Board review the Plan documents in effect in 1977 and 1978.
