HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-02-12 POPB MINUTES' I ' POLICE PENSION BOARD MEETING February 12, 2004 The regular meeting of the Englewood Police Pension Board was called to order by Board Member Norm Wood, at 3:05 p.m. in City Council Conference Room, Civic Center, 1000 Englewood Parkway. Members Present: Members Absent: Others Present: Norm Wood, Chairperson George Egri, Employee Representative James Phelps , Council Appointee Frank Gryglewicz , Director of Finance and Administrative Services Douglas Garrett, Mayor Ralph "Rick" Forbes, Employee Representative (Notice) Dan Brotzman , City Attorney A quorum was present. * * * * * SEATING OF BOARD MEMBER Seating of Board Members, Mayor GaITett, George Egri. The Board welcomed Mayor GaITett, and congratulated Mr. Egri on his election to the Police Officers Pension Board. Election of Board Chairperson/President MR. PHELPS MOVED TO NOMINATE NORM WOOD AS CHAIRPERSON . MR. GRYGLEWICZ SECONDED . Ayes: Nays: Absent: Abstention: The motion carried. GaITett, Egri, Gryglewicz, Phelps None Forbes Wood APPROVAL OF MINUTES MR. GRYGLEWICZ MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF NOVEMBER 13, 2003. MR. PHELPS SECONDED. Ayes: Nays : Absent: Abstention: The motion canied. OLD BUSINESS Egri, Phelps , Gryglewicz, Wood None Forbes Gan-ett * * * * * No old business was discussed NEW BUSINESS Review of FPPA Plan Statements . T he Board reviewed the quarterly and year end statements from the Fire and Police Pension Association (FPPA). The Board discussed FPPA's fund allocation and the lack of an appropriate benchmark for the FPPA funds. Mr. Gryglewicz will research the fund 's alloc ation. Review of 2003 meeting attendance T he Board reviewed the 2003 meeting attendance and determined the attendance was acceptable. Discussion of 2004 Actuarial Proposed Plan Amendments The Board discussed including a study to increase the retiree benefits with the 2004 actuarial report. Th e Board agreed to request two studies with the actu arial report to increas e retired member benefits by $100 or $50 per month and one-half the amount for the survi vors effective January 1, 2004 for members retired as of January 1, 2003.
