HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-08-10 POPB MINUTESPOLICE PENSION BOARD MEETING August 10, 2006 The regular meeting of the Englewood Police Pension Board was called to order by Chairperson Norm Wood, at 3:01 p.m. in Public Works Conference Room, Civic Center, 1000 Englewood Parkway. Members Present: Members Absent: Others Present: A quorum was present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Nom1 Wood, Chairperson Frank Gryglewicz, Director of Finance and Administrative Services John Knoth, Employee Representative James Phelps, Council Appointee Olga Wolosyn, Mayor George Egri, Employee Representative (with notice) Dan Brotzman, City Attorney * * * * * MR. GRYGLEWICZ MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF FEBRUARY 9, 2006. MR. PHELPS SECONDED. Ayes : Nays: Absent: Abstention: The motion canied. OLD BUSINESS Gryglewicz, Phelps, Wood, Wolosyn None Egri Knoth * * * * * No old business was discussed NEW BUSINESS Review ofFPPA Plan Statements . The Board reviewed the quarterly statements from the Fire and Police Pension Association (FPPA). Discussion regarding the increased FPP A fees beginning in 2005 from one-third of a percent to one-half. The Board agreed to research a formal clarification of the FPP A fees and pursue either restricting increased fees or requiring appropriate notification to the Board. Review of the January l, 2006 Actuarial Report. Mr. Gryglewicz reviewed the January 1, 2006 actuarial report. The 2007 and 2008 total required contribution is $439,853 each year. The report did not indicate the plan has sufficient funding to permit a benefit increase for retirees. MR. GRYGLEWICZ MOVED TO ACCEPT THE JANUARY 1, 2006 ACTUARIAL REPORT. MR. PHELPS SECONDED. Ayes: Nays: Gryglewicz, Knoth, Phelps, Wood, W olosyn None Absent: Egri The motion Notification of death of Leslie Crow. Leslie Crow, retired police officer, died on March 12, 2006. Mr. Crow's spouse preceded him in death. No further benefits are due after March 2006. Board Notification of Board, Commission and Authority Appreciation Night, Monday, August 28, 2006 at Centennial Park. The Board was reminded of the Board, Commission and Authority Appreciation Night, Monday, August 28, 2006 at Centennial Park at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Wolosyn commented that she will be unable to attend and encouraged the other board members to enjoy the celebration. Notification of December Board Member Election. Ms. Wesco at said that George Egri' s term expires December 31, 2006 and an election will be done prior to that date to fill the vacancy. MEMBER'S CHOICE Police Officers Pension Board 2 The Board agreed unless there were matters that required attention, there would be no meeting in November. MR. PHELPS MOVED TO ADJOURN.
