There were no scheduled or unscheduled visitors pr~sent. Ms. Sterling called for noMinations for ChairMan for 1987. Mr. Quaintance noMinated Bruce Hogue. 87 -1 MOTION: That the noMinations for ChairMan be closed. Moued by: Al Quaintanc e Seconded by: Gerald SaMpson Motion carrie d unaniMously Bruce Hogue was elected ChairMan for 1987. Ms. Sterling called for noMinations for Uice -ChairMan for 1987. Mr. Quaintance noMinated Gerald SaMpson > who declined. Gerald SaMpson noMinated John Peterson> who de c lined. Gerald SaMpson noMinated Al Quaintance. 87-2 MOTION: That the noMinations for Uice -ChairMan be closed. Moved by: Loi s Ste r ling Seconded by: Gerald SaMpson Motion carried unaniMously Al Quaintance was elected Uice -ChairMan for 1987. Ms. Sterling turned t h e Meet i ng o ve r to S haron Winkle for the Director's Report. Ms. Winkle gave an update on the 1987 AgreeMent for Library Services between Arapahoe Library District and the City of Englewood. She presented inforMation presented to City Council at its January 5 Meet i ng, where Counc i l passed an ordinance, on first reading, approving the agreeMent. This will be placed on the agenda for January 19 for second reading. Approval is anticipated. This includes aMendMent US which includes service to Alice 8 . Terry school at EPL's opt i on . -1 - /0 9 E Effective January 2 there is an Int erlibrary Loan process in g f ee of $1 per request. It is hoped this fee will control the deMa n d for service. Ms. Winkle gave background on the ILL service. She distributed handouts presented to patrons regarding ILL loans and service. Ms. Winkle presented a docuMent showing 1976-1986 revenues froM Copyvend, the coMpany which provides the Library DepartMent coin -operated copiers. There was discussion on the use and cOMMission froM the Copyvend equipMent. Ms. Winkle distributed articles froM "Uiewpoint" regarding Library Trustees and the Englewood Citizen for January. Ms. Winkle stated our allottMent of tax forMs was Much sMaller this year. The IRS changed its way of distribution to libraries this year and we are considered a "sMall" library and received only the basic federal and State forMs. ChairMan's Report Ms. Sterling brought forth for discussion the George Perrin RooM plaque. The proposal and suggested text of the plaque were discussed, noting the funding would coMe froM the Library or Board Budget. 87-3 MOTION: That the Board accept the proposal and suggested text for a plaque to be presented to the Library for the George Perrin RooM. Moved by: Al Quaintance Seconded by: Gerald SaMpson There was further discussion noting that Helen Perrin would be contacted regarding the wording of the plaque. Motion carried. There was an announceMent that David B. Clayton passed away. He was a forMer Council and Library Advisory Board MeMber. It was suggested that the Board Make a donation in his MeMory and send a card to the faMily. 87-4 MOTION: That the Library Advisory Board donate $100 to the Library ReMeMberance fund in the MeMory of David B. Clayton. Moved by: Gerald SaMpson Seconded by: John Peterson Motion carried. ChairMan's Choice Ms. Sterling brought forth two letters for the Board's inforMation. The first was a letter froM Mrs. J.L. SMith thanking her for a $50 donation to the Library. Second was a letter froM City Council accepting, with regret, the resignation of Jerry Ualdes froM the Library Advisory Board. There will be three vacancies on the Board as of February 1. There was discussion as to changing the nuMber of MeMbers needed for a quoruM. Ho decision was Made to change the quoruM requireMent. -2 - • • • • • • MeMbers' Choice Al Quaintance noted in a survey he read recently Librarians were rated ''10" <top) in coMMunity helpfulness while driver's licence exaMiners were rated "1'' <lowest) by COMMunity MeMbers. Bruce Hogue asked for a new Library eMployee roster. This is being prepared and should be available at the February Meeting. Mr. Hogue noted that last June there was discussion of a special library group and special library cards. He wondered if this should be brought up again in the new year. Ms. Winkle stated this would be addressed in the 1987 Action Plan which will be distributed to the Board for discussion and adoption at its February Meeting. Mr. Peterson noted that there were three (newly opened) Used Book Stores in the area. He thought this Might have an iMpact on our used book sales. He suggested we contact these stories and Make soMe arrangeMent to have theM sell our used books. Ms. Winkle noted that these stores do not like to handle "library" books. They do not like the library staMp on the books nor the "discard" staMp nor the pockets torn out. Ms. Winkle noted that Ms. Joan HinkeMeyer, InforMation Services AdMinistrator, is talking with an Englewood organization which May decide to help with our book sales . ChairMan Sterling pointed out the Chinese Hew Year prograM being presented by Barbara Sproat, PrograM Specialist, on the 2ith of January. The Statistical Report for OeceMber 1986 was briefly discussed. Ms. Winkle gave background regarding volunteer hours contributed to the Library. 87-5 MOTION: That the Minutes froM the October li, 1986 Meeting be approved as presented. Moved by: Bruce Hogue Seconded by: Gerald SaMpson Motion carried.
