PRESEHT: Bruce Hogue,, Al Quai ntance,, Betty Dou n ay,, Uirginia Johnson= John Peterson= Joe Rathburn~ Bev SiMon = Lois Sterling REGRETS: Gerald SaMpson ALSO PRESEHT: Barbara Hogue= Susan Uan Oyke, City Council Representative = Sharon Winkle= Director of Libraries= Donna Gottberg= Recording Secretary Roll call was taken and a quoruM declared present. There were no scheduled or unscheduled visitors present. Mr. Hogue turned the Meeting over to Sharon Winkle for the Director's Reoort. Ms. Winkle explained the concept of the forMation of a Contributor's Club= noting it is not a friend's Group= but a Means of securing naMes of Library supporters who want to be inforMed about Library prograMs and ser v ices. It also provi d es a forMal way of Making contributions to the Library. This is an additional revenue streaM for the Donor's fund. Ms. Winkle would like to set a deadline to have the Club in place by Hational Library Week in April. A discussion period followed. 87-8 MOTIOH: That the Board approve the concept of the Contributor's Club as presented. Moved by: John Peterson Seconded by: Lois Sterling further discussion on tiMe period. Motion carried. The George Perrin plaques are ready for Mounting on the wall in the George Perrin Conference RooM. Mrs. Perrin approved the wording= and further noted that when she finished sorting Mr. Perrin's papers= filMs= etc. she planned to donate a portion or all to the Englewood Library. Ms. Winkle showed the coMpleted plaques to the Board at the end of the Meeting. Ms. Winkle presented 1987 Budget inforMation for both the Lib r ary and the Board= noting that 3.8% of the general fund was allocated for the Library. Selected pages of the Budget were distributed to Board MeMbers and the full Budget is available in the Library for MeMbers or public to study. Ms. Winkle noted there is an open house for newly-appointed Deputy State Librarian= Haney Bolt. She plans to attend and - 1 - 9 invited any Board MeMbers wishing to participate to contact her for transportation. H s. Winkle asked MeMbers to Mark their calendars for May 16. There will be a Trustees Spring Meeting for trustees and board MeMbers at the Aurora Public library. The topic will be Ce ns ors hip. £hq irMan's Report Mr. Hogue welcoMed Uirginia Johnson~ who was unable to attend las t Month's Meeting. Mr. Hogue wanted it noted that Ms. Johnson's and Mr. Rathburn's terM of office ends in 1991 and that Ms . Oounay's terM ends in 1989. Ms. Oounay was appointed to serve the unexpired terM left vacant by Mr. Ualdes. As inforMation= Mr. Hogue wanted the Board to know that he is a MeMher of the Anerican Library Association <ALA>= Mr. Quaintance = Uice -ChairMan= is a MeMber of the Mountain Plains library Association CMPLA)= and all the Board MeMbers have MeMberships in the Colorado library Association CCLA). These are all funded fro M the Board Budget. Hr . Hogue presented copies of letters sent to Ms. Wheelehanm Ms. Uan Ualkenburg= and Mr. Ualdes= thanking theM for their years of se rvice. He read aloud the letter to Ms. Altenbach= drafted by Nr. Peterson= thanking her for her Many years of devoted service to the library. <This letter to Ms. Altenbach serves as a coMbination resolution and thank you froM the Board.) ChairMan Hogue thanked the secretary for sending the refreshMent list to all the MeMbers and noted it was appreciated that she calls MeMber s before each Monthly Meeting. Mr. Hogue further· thanked the secretary= Donna Gottberg= for serving the dinner this evening for a get-acquainted session with the new Board MeMbe rs. Mr. Hogue also thanked Joan HinkeMeyer and Hank long for the Mini-tour they presented before tonight's Meeting. Mr. Hogue reMinded Board MeMbers that Money is available in the Budget for in-state travel for seMinars= etc. He asked that Menbers keep in Mind the CLA Conference to be held at ft. Collins in Octob er. MeMbers' Choice Mr. Joe Rathburn suggested a paMphlet be constructed giving details of George Perrin's contribution to the Englewood ar-ea= for distribution to young people and other patrons interested in the background of the George Perrin RooM. The Board agreed this was a good s uggestion and that other well-known c itizens could be written about= as inforMation on local history. The 1987 Action Plan was brought forth for discussion. 87-9 MOTION: That the 1987 Action Plan for the library = with the revised wording on Goal B3 be approved. Mr. Hogue and Mr. Peterson will again forM a coMMittee for the Boar d/Staff Annual Picnic to be held in July/August of this year.
