MINUTES
ENGLEWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
Special Meeting -July 31, 1990
The special meeting ·of the Englewood Public Library Board was
called to order by Chairman. John Peterson at 7:32 p.m.

Roll call was tak en and a quorum declared present.
Ch airman Peterson introduced himself to the guests present and
e xp lained that this special Board meeting was called to explore
options available regarding Budget cuts. He asked guests to
limit their comments to 5 .minutes each. Chairman Peterson then
turned the meeting over to Hank Long, Library Service Manager,
for comments. background, and explanation regarding the
recommend a tions that the Bookmobile and staff be cut from the
1 9 91 Budget, noting t h at there has been a d i rective from the City
Manager whereas the 1991 Budget must be held to 95 % of the 1990
figures.
Mr. Long distributed graphs and special handouts regarding the
Bookmobile and its service to the community. He interjected with
cost figures to repair the present vehicle and other options
available. After a meeting with City Manager Fraser, who will
e x amine suggestions and ideas that can be brought forth (some
during this special meeting), he stayed with his recommendation
that the Bookmobile and staff be eliminated. The mee t ing was
open to comments from the guests present.

Ideas and suggestions were noted on a chart sheet and a list will
be attached to these Minutes.
Board members then gave their suggestions and ideas. These are
also noted on the chart sheet and included on the attached list.
Ms. Habenicht, Council Representative to the Board, repeated _ man y -.-:
of the comments and added some of her own comments regarding
k eeping the Bookmobil e . She feels the Council will be very
receptive to any positive suggestions brought forth this evening.
Meeting adjourned at 9:25 p.m.
