All departments are looking at cuts for 1994. Some are impacted more than others . The Acting City Manager is also requesting a 3-year ·Budget cycle for planning purposes.' Due to the fact that it will take several years for Cinderella City to turn-around, it would be a good thing to look at three years instead of just one. There will be at least two public hearings before the November election. Discussion followed. There was discussion on the recent Englewood Something to Talk About sessions held in neighborhoods. The upgrading of the Data-Radio in the Bookmobile is being done this week. There is nothing we could do to cancel this equipment. The order was placed many months ago. DiversiFax has sold their company and the new owners show no interest at this time to install a FAX machine in the Library. Members Choice : Ms. Stoddard commented on a movie she has seen . ·Road Scholar· is • the title and it will only be in the area for a week. It is a fascinating movie! She will be out of town when the letter for Hank is prepared and asks that the Secretary sign for her. Ms. Brenengen visited the new Longmont Library. It is a beautiful building. but the services offered leave a lot to be desired. She is so grateful for our wonderful library. She. too, will be out of town when the letter for Hank is prepared and asks that the Secretary sign for her. Mr. Aigbe asks that the Library consider having Culture Awareness programs. He does not want to spend a lot of money on the programs, but feels it is an important aspect for the community. Ms. Dounay interjected that the High School usually presents such programs and could present them for the Library after their presentation to the High School. Colorado State Library has such programs high on their agenda for 1994, and the Cultural Council is another resource to contact. Persons with disabilities have spokespersons available for programs also. Ms. Habenicht noted that the play at the High School, The King and I, was terrific. Ms. Dounay agreed. She noted that it has been fun working on Hank's nomination. Ms. Williams recently visited the Holocaust Memorial Museum while she and her family were on vacation. It was a moving experience. Ms. Ulrich commented that she was surprised at the lack of knowledge by community members. How do we educate people to be aware of their government? Some of her neighbors receive no newspapers, and only 2 families attended the Something to Talk About sessions in her area. The Board thanked Ms. Ulrich for the refreshments this evening. The Statistical Report for July was briefly discussed. It was suggested that there be a cumulative figure for days of service. Meeting adjourned at 9:16 p.m. • •
