Library Board Chair 's Report
• Mr. Adams mentioned the importance of volunteering . He asked that each member of the Board be
-1 -
aware of how their volunteer time does impact the future and the Library . Last weekend he assisted in
• saving a person 's life and all his training was through volunteer experience . With only the training he
has received through his volunteerism , he was able to aid in saving a life . That impact was a huge eye-
opener. "You do not know how far our time and experiences may impact another person directly or
indirectly ."
Library Director's Report
Mr. Long thanked and congratulated Mr. Adams on his successful experience, and for sharing this with
the Board .
Mr. Long shared that we now have two vacancies on the Board. If there are any interested parties that
members may know of, please share this information and ask them to consider the opportunity to aid
the Library in making a difference in the future .
In December, former Board member Ms . Elley had suggested that we review the 5 year Plan and
conduct a survey this year . Mr. Long asked if the Board still felt strongly that this is a priority .
Ms . Russell noted that there will be a need for dedicated volunteers to hand out the surveys and assist
with this process. Do we have a committed bank of volunteers on which to depend?
Mr. Long responded that , yes , we would need volunteers at random times for approximately 14 hours a
week . We could use staff, but that would require adding staff hours at a time that this is not feasible .
Mr. Adams suggested that we table this until closer to the 5 year Plan being due . He is content with
•
letting things ride out the economic tides and see where we may be able to add and change in the near
future?
•
Ms . Pilgrim noted that comment forms are great information fillers between surveys . If a patron has a
comment or concern they are always available , and Mr. Long takes the time to address each of these
personally . She feels that this is sufficient to maintain the communication between the Library and its
patrons for now.
Mr. Adams suggested that the Board reassess this subject in September.
Mr. Long added that he will be attending a Directors and Council Budget meeting on April 1 i h to
discuss and plan for the remainder of 2010 .
Other New Business
No other new business at this time.

Utah and Nevada over Spring Break . She commented on her recent Sunday visit to the library . She
