All points were under a general discussion and background for Mr. Penn and Ms . Thompson. Food For Fines was once again very successful in providing food over the holiday period for Interfaith Community Services food bank . This program has been in place for 17 years and has provided over $34,000 in donations for needy families in the Englewood area . When asked how much is lost in fines during the program Mr. Long said usually $300 -$500, but that the benefit to the local community and the publicity far out weighed the money lost in fines . The program is very well received by the public . A discussion followed about cell phone and blue tooth use in the Library. Mr. Adams noted that the security guard on duty this evening had a blue tooth in his ear. Mr. Adams was concerned that this gave a mixed message when there are signs asking the public to not use cell phones in the library. A lively - 1 - discussion followed, with no decision made . Mr. Long said he would inquire if the blue tooth is for the guard's personal use or to keep in touch with staff during the time the guard is patrolling on the 2nd floor • and out of sight of staff.
