In looking at the monthly statistical report it was noted the increase in Internet use. In light of th& recent
Supreme Court dec ision regarding Internet use and filters , Mr. Long said that Englewood is in compliance
as the library does not receive federal (E rate) money. Self-imposed filters are already in place in the
library. -
Mr. Long showed a draft of the statistical sheet to begin use in July. Because the thrust of the library
business has changed it was felt that it was time to track different areas of publ ic contact with staff,
instead of relying on circulation counts, patron counts and reference questions as the only count for
contact. A brief discussion followed.
Mr. Ransick welcomed Mr. Fish back to the Board as the Youth representative. He asked that Jason
share his v iews from the past year. Jason said that he had enjoyed his time on the Board and it had been
fun .
Mr. Long said that Mike Flaherty, Assistant C ity manager could not be at the meeting tonight but had sent
information that Mr. Long passed out to those present. A discussion followed about the proposed "Head
Tax". Opinions both pro and con were d iscussed . There will be a 2nd public forum on July 17 abou fthe
Head Tax. C itizens are encouraged to go to t he forum and have their opinions heard by City Council.
Mr. Long also passed out a memo with h is budget recommendat ions that will be presented to City Council
on Monday, Ju ly 14. Mr. Ransick said he fe lt t hat Mr. Long had expressed himself quite well and justified
