PRESENT : L. Cahill, CJ Cullinan, C. McGovern, K . Pilgrim, C . Ransick , Y. Russell , B. Williams, Council Member, Ray Tomasso. REGRETS: M. Adams (excused), J. Grazulis (excused), and School Board member, Mary Dounay (excused). ALSO PRESENT: Hank Long , Library Director and Joan Clayton, Recording Secretary. 04 -18 Motion: That the minutes of the November 9, 2004 meeting be accepted as written . Moved by: Chris Ransick Seconded by: CJ Cullinan The Motion passed. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Friends of the Library is Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 7 p .m. The next Travel Program will be on Thursday, January 20 at 7 p.m. in the Anderson Room. The program will be Athens and the Olympics with Marilyn & Dave Binkley. The Holiday Bake sale on December 4 netted a profit of $275 for Children 's programming. Mr. Long thanked the Board on behalf of the staff for the Staff Appreciation Luncheon . Ms. Cullinan passed around pictures from the luncheon. The recent W inter Food For F ines program was a success for lnterFaith Community Services ' Food Bank. The amount was double that of the Spring Food For F ines program. The Library has provided over $22,000 in food items for lnterFaith in the 14 years the program has existed. Both Ms. Pilgrim and Ms. Russell have indicated that they have sent in their applications to re -app ly for positions on the Board. The Board was reminded t hat in January t he Board holds election of officers. Discussion followed. Mr. Long t hanked Mr. Ransick and Ms . Cullinan for hosting the staff l uncheon . Ms. Cah ill was thanked for the cookies she had brought t o tonight's meeting. Mr. Ransick noted t hat he had had a fun t ime at the book signing for h is newest book at the Library o n Nov. 14 as well as the signing at the Tattered Cover held on December 13. -1 - Member's Choice Mr. Long wished all present a happy holiday. He also noted that the November sales tax revenues were down substantially from this time last year . Ms . Clayton wished everyone Happy Holidays . She said that there are currently 18 authors committed to the Open House in April. Ms. McGovern said Happy Holidays! Mr. Ransick gave out further information about his literary tour scheduled for June 2005 . Ms. Cahill said everything is going great. Next month begins Girl Scout Cookie time! Ms. Williams said all is well at her house. Ms. Cullinan said that her contractor had been by for the first time in a month so all is better! Ms. Russell talked about a calendar that had been done by her neighborhood in Arapahoe Acres. Sales of the calendar had gone over very well and the calendar had sold out. She & her husband are traveling to Portland , Ore. for Christmas. She mentioned that Diane Wray would be having a book signing at the Tattered Cover in LoDo. Mr. Tomasso discussed briefly the issues surrounding the bank building at Broadway and Quincy. Ms. Pilgrim mentioned that the most recent college alcohol related death was that of a student who had attended All Souls School. A brief discussion followed. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m. -2 - • • •
