All members were present except Vern Mann and John Maxwell. Present by invitation were Richard Wanush, Director of Community Development, and Robert Joyce of the law firm of Mulligan & Reeves, Denver. Mrs. Holthaus reported that her committee met and discussed with two men the possibility of filling the role of Interim Director of the Authority; they were Grady Maples and Larry Nowacki. Other interviews are scheduled and a job description has been developed with the assistance of the City Personnel Director. It is anticipated that the job will be advertised at least on a regional basis. Mr. Robohm, a member of Mr. Allen's Real Estate Committee, reported on a discussion with Mr. Sachter on the possibility of acquiring his land on South Lincoln Street. There followed discussion of the possible acquisition of the Colorado Public Service property on Lincoln Street and/or its building on South Broadway. Mr. Joyce outlined to Authority members some of his experiences in seven years with the City of Denver in urban planning and activities. He outlined some methods of procedure with the federal government and possible avenues for obtaining federal funds, although in general, he was cautionary about that approach. He counseled the Authority members about being too hasty in naming a Director, who, he said, should not be called a Director, and also about haste in immediately getting into some project without getting an overall program developed. Mr. Joyce suggested contacting Robert Cameron of the Denver Urban Authority, and the Chairman volunteered to do so. There was some discussion about setting aside a meeting of longer duration to distill more specifically the short-range, near-term and ·long-range plans, summarized for Authority members by Mr. Kaufman's committee in the January meeting.
