Sherman -Englewood, CO 80110 Minutes March 12, 1986 100 Leaves Board Members Present: Boselli, Coleman, Green, Kaufman, Mausolf, Oswald, Otis, Pendleton, Tomooka Board Members Absent: None Staff Present: P. Dietrich Guests: Andy McCown, Susan Powers The regular meeting of the Englewood Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors was called to order by Chairman Bill Pendleton at 12:00 noon on March 12, 1986. Mr. approve the minutes from the The motion was passed unanimously Treasurer's Report -Mr. Green presented the Treasurer's Report, dated January 31, 1986. Mr. Kaufman ·moved, seconded by Mr. Tomooka, to accept the Treasurer's Report. The motion was passed unanimously by voice vote. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT Mr. Pendleton recognized Walt Tomooka and noted his contribution towards the Tree Program in the South Broadway Beautification Project. He presented to Mr. Tomooka an engraved plate recognizing this contribution and effort towards this project. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Office Lease -The Director explained the events that have lead to the situation. The two spaces that the leasing agent had offered to lease to the EDDA at Trolley Square are apparently no longer available. Because of the time involved in the end of the current lease at 3535 South Sherman, the Board noted that a shorter lease might be an alternative for the present. Mr. Mausolf moved, seconded by Mr. Kaufman, to offer Albin Management Company a one year lease, with one year option, at $12.00/sq.ft. Discussion ensued. The motion was _ then passed unanimously by voice vote. Colorado Business Magazine -This magazine is no longer placing an emphasis . on the Section II feature. However, the Editor indicated that he would be very interested in doing a feature story on downtown Englewood ahd the events to date of the redevelopment project. C • Page Two Minutes March 12, 1986 Marketing Study -A proposal has been received from Browne, Bortz, & Coddington and another one is e xpected from Laventhol and Ho rwath. No action was taken until the proposals ha ve been received. Business Mixers -The Business Mixer at.· the City of Englewood Chamber of Commerce was a huge success with over 150 people in attendance . Another Business Mixer is planned for May 1 at Trolley Square in conjunction with the Centennial Chamber of Commerce. Sponsors of this event will be Affiliated First National Bank of Englewood, EDDA, King Soopers and representatives of Trolley Square. Urban Renewal Authority -Susan Powers reported on several activities that happening in downtown Englewood. Floyd and Broadway: Construction of the realignment of this intersection will take place about June, and last for 60-90 days. Work around the Post Office to put customer parking on the south side of the building will begin this spring, depending upon the weather. She .also noted that the double lights at Floyd and Broadway will be removed which should eliminate some of the congestion that presently exists around King soopers. Englewood Parkway -The begin within a month. This retail is JBC Corporation -The Urban Renewal Authority has almost completed negotiations with the JBC Corporation for the two high rise apartments, movie theater, and athletic center complex within the redevelopment project. If ground is broken this fall, completion date is expected to be about 14 months. Springfest -Arapahoe County is celebrating its 125 year anniversary with a Springfest event at the Denver Tech Center in the middle of June. The City of Englewood and EDDA can work together to sponsor an activity or booth at this event. As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:05 PM. Respectfully submitted,
