RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS ENGLEWOOD DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY 3535 South Sherman -Englewood, CO 80110 MINUTES November 28, 1988 SPECIAL MEETING 100 Leaves Board Members Present: Birdsall, Breier, Close, Green, Hathaway, Oxman, Tomooka Board Members Absent: Coleman, Pendleton, Platou, Steele Staff Present: M. Miller Guests and Visitors: Gib Frye Chairman Tomooka called the Special Meeting of the Englewood Board of Director's to order at 12:14 p.m. on November 28, 1988. The purpose of this special meeting was to gi.ve the Hoard ti.me to discuss the promotion proposal submitted by Gib Frye. In consideration of the time schedule set forth to put a promotional program together for the 1988 Holiday Season it was felt by Chairman Tomooka that a vote from the Board was needed before ·the next Regular meeting. There was general discussion of the proposal which involved n e wspaper advertisements as we l 1 as radio spots promoting Downtown Englewood, with special emphasis on the completion of the redevelopme nt project and the unique shopping atmosphere that has been created as a result of that project. Gib Frye took a few moments to further explain his proposal noting that timing is essential in the promotion and that th i s year is the time to get it accomplished. MINUTES-Special Meeting November 28, 1988 Page Two e 100 Leaves From this opinion pole came a motion from Rita Hathaway, seconded by Gary Oxman, to advertise in the Rocky Mountain News two times not to exceed $12,000.00 plus radio advertisi.ng: 10, 30 and 60 second spots not to exceed $10,000. Total expenses not to exceed $22,000.00. The moti.on passed unanimously by voi.ce vote. Gordon Close made a moti.on, seconded by Gregg Birdsall, to reallocate the moni.es left in the Recrui.ting Program i.nto the Promotion Program with the · stipulation that if the Chamber of Commerce does recruit a business into the downtown area before December 31, 1988, (when the program expires), that the EDDA will honor the $1,000 per business agreement. The motion was passed unaniomously. It was suggest~d that a letter be sent to the Englewood Chamber of Commerce explai~ing the reallocation of funds.
