Donaldson, indicating that, due to the need .for further development of additional water supply and filter plant .facilities, the Englewood Water and Sewer Board is not now in any position to recommend tr~ armexation of the subject area to the water dlstrict, nor to expand the City•a "Red Lina" to encompass sameo Ayes: Nays: Absent: Braun, Brownewell, Frantz, 11cCabe, .Purcell, Scott None Robohm --.. Copies of the proposed 1961 budget covering utility functions were presented to all DO;\rd members present and the Consultant at this timeo -.. .., Mr. Ray c. Ludwig and i'!ro ChArles H0 Smukler, representing a citizens committee assigned to study the proposed 1961 City of Englewood budget, were next recognized and joined the Board to discuss the possibility of legally converting ap}'roximately ~40,000 from the water fund to the general fund? Box 5482 Denver 17, Colorado August 11~ 1960 File: 513 .. 18 ... 0.3 The Honorable hayor &iward Scott Englewood City Hall Englewood, Colorado Honorable 1v.iayor Scott: As you may .mow, the Rio Grame Land Company1 a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad, has pui~chased the Stephens property which is located inuuedia"tely south of Wolhurst 0 The company is develo~ing its property into an industrial area 0 Plans, as well as actual development of this area, are rapidly progreesing 0 To develop a project of this nature requires that a firm and dependable water supply be provided, as well as adequate means for sewage disposalo The water supply to be provided by the company will be that necessary for sanitary purposes~ for fire protection, including s~inkler systems, and for the irrigation of grass, trees and shruba within the areao .Process water is to be provided by the various industries, provided the requirements therefor are large in amounto J:'resent ~lans fo the com~any are to obtain a water sup~ly and means for sewRge disposal from outside sources, provided ~uch can be done at reasonable costo In these res~ectsj it is realized that the water supply mains and sewage facilities or Englewood are located at a con .. siderable distance from the canpany lands and that the cost of obtaining a ~otable water supply and sewage disposal facilities from Englewood might not, at firat, appear to be feasibleo The solution is not, however, as simple as previously statedo Because the com~~ny ot-llla a large block of the City Ditch wnter and also some Ant,ero Reservoir rights, it is quite !JOssible that the City of Englewood cou1d benefit indirectly in the final plan of developnento To assist us in the solution of this problem we rlfive retained the finn of Wheeler and Wright of Denvero Consequently, it would be appreciated if the personnel of our company and of \iheeler and Wright be authorized to work with officials of the City of Englewood on the problemo This matter has been mentioned ·i;o Hro Ho o.
