Rei South=East. Englewood Water District
Dear Mayor BrowneweUa
Si~e the joint meeting of the Water Adiris·o ry Board of the City of
E..'l'lglat'100d and the Directors of South~East Englewood Water District on
August 201> 196311 the members of the Board of the District have met on
two occasions to di.s~uss and consider the position of the District under
its distributorl}s contract with the City of Englewoodo
The concern of the Board of the District is with regard to the
adequacy of the supply of water from the facilities of the City of Engle->
wood and whether other source of SL\pply should n~w be consideredo It
is believed the obligation of the Board to assure an adequate and unlimited
supply of water for present users as well as for the future development of
the District as anticipated by nett construction in the .areao
It was the opinion of the Board of Directors that they did not have
sufficient f aots for proper consideration of the matter and to base a de=
cision on the question of an adequate supply of water from Englewood
facilitieso It was believed that the position of the City on this point
should be submitted to the District in detail and be documentedo Thereo
fore~ it is requested that a full and complete report be made to the District
outlinil'>g existing sources of Mater available to Englewood8 sourees being
developed~ the present cap.a.city of .facilities with projection of future
capacity.!> including the time when such future capacity alld supplies will be
available and an:!' matters involving contingeneies as to development of the
future additional supplies of watero Thi.a information is deemed essential
to a proper decision on this question by the Distr:i.ct.o
The matter under discussion by the Board of the District involves
the question or continuing water service under the existing distributoras
contract which expires February 20, 19640 The position or the District
should» therefore» be resolved as soon as possible and the City of Engle,.,.
wood would,gi undoubtecD.y, desire to exercise caution on future e:xpenditves
in anticipation or a continued long term contract with the District until
such decision is reachedo Theref oreb it is requested that the information
requested be made aYai.lable as soon as possibleb by the next meeting of
the Board or Directors on September 12.11 1963n if feasibleo AlsoJ' the
Board would appreciate consideration for an extension of 90 days from
February 20~ 1964P within which to make a decision on contract revisions
or renewal as provided in Section 1.5 of the distributor11 s contracto
Should you have a:rr;r questions concerning the foregoing I would be glad
to discuss the same lrlth youo
