She asked if the Board had any objections. There being no objections to rescheduling, it was decided that the grievance of Henry O'Dell would be heard on April 21, 1977 at 7:00 p.m. * * * * * * Chairman Henning stated that the only rreeting that was definitely set up to study Benchmark Classification was on April 20, 1977, at which ti.rre Mr. Phil Oliver was scheduled to speak. Karl Nollenberger indicated that the City of Aurora and the City of Englewood are co-sponsoring the trip for Mr. Oliver. He stated that it was the recoIIIIBndation to e the Board from the City Manager that they accept Benchrmrk. The purpose of the rreeting is to help the Board understand the Benchrmrk Classification system. He suggested that the Board should schedule at least two rreetings to serve as study sessions prior to the April 20th rreeting. He indicated that it would be the City's reco:mrrendation that the sessions be open to the public. Chairman Henning asked what time would suit the Board best. The Board agreed to meet on April 20, at 6: 00 p. m. ; with two previous study sessions to be held on M:irch 31 at 7:00 p.m. and April 7 at 7:00 p.m. She extended an invitation to any employees or interested persons to attend these sessions. Corrnnissioner Brundage asked who would guide them during these study sessions and where the rreetings would be held. Karl Nollenberger stated that Richard Lorig, Personnel Director, would be leading the two study sessions, and for a rreeting place they could reserve any room in City Hall or in the Fire or Police building. It was decided that the Ll.brary Conference room would be appropriate and. if possible arrangerrents should be made to rreet there. * * * * * * Representatives of the Englewood Police Association and the Englewood Firefighter's Association were present, but had no co:mrrents. Margaret Freerren, President of the Englewood Employee's Association, brought up A the problems resulting from the one-year probationary period that went into effect ,_, in 1976. 311 Discussion followed and the Board decided that the matter should be reviewed. Chairman Henning asked that the City provide the Board with a list of all persons whom would be affected by the probationary period before the next meeting. The Board also requested that they be sent copies of the listed Personnel Actions, Vacancy Listings and Eligibility Lists prior to the monthly rreeting so that they would have an opportunity to review them before the rreeting. ****** Karl Nollenberger thanked the Board for their cooperation during his term as Assistant City Manager, stating that he enjoyed working with them. He indicated that the Career Service System is very worthwhile and should be retained in the future, as it is a very novel system.
