Mr. BeVirt stated that a grievance was received from Police Officer John Wing with regard to completing a sick leave slip for one hour and 20 minutes. Mr. BeVirt explained that his interpretation of the grievance was that Officer Wing was grieving that if he had to report the time he was off work, that he should also report the time that he has given to the City with no com- pensation and therefore Officer Wing was requesting he be compensated for the 15 minutes that he reports to work early to attend roll call. Mr. BeVirt stated that the relief noted on the grievance form is to compensate or discontinue the practice of the 41-hour work week. Mr. BeVirt further stated that the grievance was denied by Chief Robert Holmes and the City Manager. After further discussion and review, it was revealed that patrol officers actually work 39 hours per week, when considering the half-hour lunch period that is granted each day. Therefore, Commissioner Brundage moved and Commissioner Hanson seconded to deny the grievance brought by Officer John Wing.
