HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-04-07 CSB SPECIAL HEARING [1]• • • PRESENT: ABSENT: OTHERS: BOARD OF CAREER SERVICE COMMISSIONERS APRIL 7, 1986 SPECIAL HEARING Tom Fitzpatrick, Janet Kerzic, JoEllen Turner, Don Weber Cathy Pokraka Peter Juenemann, EEA/AFSCME President Michael Gruninger, EFFA President Jasper Carter John Criswell, Attorney At Law Mel BeVirt, Employee Relations Director Gary Kasson, EPBA President Capt Moore, Police Department Chairman Weber called the meeting to order. Roll call was taken and a quorum was established. The purpose of the meeting was to determine the timeliness and validity of the grievance filed by Englewood Police Benefit Association on March 26, 1986, regarding biddable positions. The City argued that according to the Charter, EPBA only has five days to apply for a grievance of a contract issue . Gary Kasson, EPBA President, noted that the problem was not brought to his attention until the date of the filing, and at that time he found out it has been an on-going problem. The problem did happen in January and the contract is very clear. Article 25 states "must file within five working days of the affected action''· Therefore, this action was not timely. Commissioner Fitzpatrick moved to deny this grievance because it is not timely. Commissioner Kerzic seconded. The vote was unanimous. Commissioner Fitzpatrick moved to adjourn .
