MINUTES
FEBRUARY 24, 1994
The Public Hearing for of the Board of Career Service opened at 6:40
p.m.
Present: Members Fleenor, Davidson, Kerzic, and Turner. Mr. Farris
was ill.
The Chairman opened the public hearing to determine the timeliness
and grievability of a series of grievances filed by Officer Gerri Clark
to her supervisors, the City Manager, and the Board.
The City was represented by Patrick Mooney, and Officer Clark by
George Price. Mr. Mooney's position was that Officer Clark had not
filed her grievances with the Department of Safety Services, the City
Manager or the Career Service Board in a timely manner. Mr. Price
stated that there was confusion as to the rules, and that Officer Clark
had filed grievances by fax, and there was no evidence that the City
had received them.
The Board decided that there was some indication that some of the
grievances had been filed in a timely manner, and asked that
arguments continue on March 24, 1994 at 6:30 p.m., the regularly
scheduled meeting for the Board of Career Service. It further stated
that if it is decided that the grievances are timely, the hearing of the
merits of the grievances could begin at that meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
