SUBJECT: RESCHEDULING OF MEETING WITH COUNCIL &
ELECTION ISSUES
Please note that due to further scheduling problems the Election Commission 's
meeting with Council has been rescheduled to OCTOBER 10, 1994 at 6:00 p.m .
in the Community Room. Please advise if the October 10th meeting will work
for you (762-2407). Thanks for your patience!
At a work session May 12 , 1993 the Commission unanimously agreed that it is in
the best interest of the electors of Englewood to conduct its future elections
jointly with the other political entities within the County. As a result City Council
has approved an intergovernmental agreement between the City and the County
relat ive to the November 8, 1994 election .
Attached are several items relating to the November 8th election :
-+ Ordinance No. 40 , Series of 1994 -approving an intergovernmental
agreement between Arapahoe County Board of Commissioners by and through
the Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder and the City of Englewood to conduct
a coordinated election on November 8 , 1994.
-+ Ordinance No. 42 , Series of 1994 -setting a ballot question for the
November election regard ing concrete.
-+ Copy of letter submitted to the County advising of the City's intent to
participate in the November election.
~Copy of memorandum to Dan Brotzman, Assistant City Attorney,
advising of special election dates regarding EPBA impasse issue. (The
Englewood Police Benefit Association and the City of Englewood filed letters of
dissatisfaction on August 17th, relative to portions of the Career Service Board
decision issued July 28th.)
~ Last week Acting City Attorney Semple requested that I prepare a Mail
Ballot Election Calendar and cost comparison . He felt Council should be aware
that they have the option of conducting a separate mail ballot election. Both
memos are attached. Council elected to proceed with the coordinated election.
On September 13, 1994 the City must certify their ballot to Arapahoe County.
Your approval is necessary. I will submit the final ballot to the Commission for
approval prior to that date. As this is the only item we need to review at this time
I feel a telephone poll will suffice.
I look forward to meeting with you in October!
