The discussions are outlined below. 1. MSW Plan: Glazier distributed a draft of the proposed ordinance that would change the city Code as recommended by the Commission. The draft ordinance would change the City Code so that: a) services b) and all residents are required to have trash hauling from a licensed hauler, all residential trash pickup would be from the street, c) all licensed trash haulers would be required to offer a recycling service to their customers upon condition of receiving a license. Staff stated they would set up a time with Council to discuss the plan. Clean, Green & Proud Commission • City of Englewood 3400 South Elati Street • Englewood, CO 80110 • (303) 762-2348 3. Future Projects: Glazier presented to the Commission some • proposals for future projects in response to Lee Means' request to research programs in which the Commission might become involved. Glazier felt that the Commission might want to start thinking of projects once the MSW Plan had run its course. Glazier presented two projects for the Commission to contemplate. One, a seminar for small to medium sized businesses where participants would be educated about environmental laws and regulations relating to air, water and solid waste. In addition, education would be provided in the ways to reduce both the volume and toxicity of waste streams. Secondly, the Commission sponsorship of a leaf and grass drop-off program. This program would allow Englewood residents an opportunity to dispose of yard clippings so they would be recycled into compost rather then landfilling. 4. Other Business: Clare Harris made a request that the pext meeting be informal and not business related. She recommended that the Commission all go out to dinner for a holiday celebration. The Commission agreed and staff was directed to find an appropriate location. Glazier announced that Rhonda Davis had been chosen by the Englewood Business and Professional Women's Association as Woman of the Year. Glazier informed the Commission that there were currently two opening on the Commission and urged members to submit nominations. Glazier also informed the Commission that Thad • Carson, Chuck Grimes, Ken Haraldsen, Debi Kimball and Phillip Russell terms expire on December 12, 1992. Glazier requested that those Commission members indicate to him, some time in the near future, their willingness to be reappointed. •
