CLEAN, GREEN, AND PROUD COMMISSION
August 10, 1993
Members Present: R. Davis, Golumbek, Jackson,
Jensen, Maes, Roth, and Vormittag.
Members Absent: B. Davis, Fouts, Howe, Prado, Russell, and
Van Dyke.
Also Present: Rita Hathaway, City Council Representative
Dana Glazier, Coordinator and darn nice guy.
Items that were discussed at the August 10, 1993 Clean, Green,
and Proud Commission meeting are outlined below .
1. Educational Programs: Glazier stated that there seemed to be
a general consensus at the July meeting that the focus of the
Commission should be on the education of the public regarding
solid waste and environmental issues. Again, the Commission
agreed to focus on educational programs rather than try to
implement solid waste programs to an unreceptive population.
Glazier stated that the Commission should focus on only two or
three educational programs rather than envision numerous
programs, given the constraints on everyone's time resources.
After much debate the Commission decided to direct programs
around:
1. master gardener project
2. composting
3. environmental display.
It was decided that a committee of several members would
meet to more clearly define what those programs would be and to
provide the following information for each program:
1. timetable
2. audience
3. objectives.
R. Davis, Jackson, and Vormittag volunteered to meet and put
together a presentation for the September meeting .

2. Third Annual Golf Tournament: Glazier stated that plans are
underway for the golf tournament and he was in real need for •
volunteers to help organize the tournament. Glazier also
stressed that each member should try and recruit as many players
and sponsors as possible to ensure another successful tournament.
Jensen and Golumbek agreed to work with Glazier on the
tournament.
3. Paint Recycling DroD-off: Glazier explained the program that
will be held August 28th and September 25th. Again, volunteers
were asked to sign up for the two dates.
4. Leaf and Tire Drop-off: The leaf program has been expanded
to also now include tires. A company has agreed to recycle tires
to be used as a soil amendment. Glazier explained that tires
would be accepted for one dollar and if attached to a rim it
would cost three dollars. Again, volunteers were asked to sign
up for the two dates.
