The following issues were discussed at the March 8, 1994
meeting of the Clean, Green, and Proud Commission.
1. Election of New Officers: Glazier stated that R. Davis
and Jensen had been nominated for the Chair position. R.
Davis and Roth had been nominated as Vice Chair. R. Davis
requested her nomination as Chair be removed. Roth also
made the same request for the Vice Chair position. The
Commission voted unanimously to approve Jensen as Chair and
R. Davis as Vice Chair.
2. Municipal Solid Waste Proposal: Glazier circulated a
copy of the proposed Solid Waste Plan. He asked the
Commission if there were any recommended changes to the
document before it was presented to City Council at the
April 21, 1994 study session. The Commission voted 11-1 to
present the proposal to Council. A committee was suggested
to continue researching viable options to the Municipal
Solid Waste Plan .

3. Education Committee; R. Davis distributed a overview of •
the committee's activities. Davis explained that the
committee has lined up two workshops to be presented in
April and May. The workshops will offer xeroscaping,
landscaping and other gardening information. Davis
suggested that as a gardening demonstration plot the
Commission use a City park garden and then adopt that plot
to maintain through out the summer.
Davis also requested that environmental information and
Clean, Green, and Proud brochures be made available from the
recycling booth. It was suggested that a committee of
Commission members get together to design the revised Clean,
Green, and Proud brochure. Also, the committee would draft
a letter to distribute to all Neighborhood Watch Captains
informing them of programs that the Commission could be
involved with. Roth, Russell, Joyce, Jensen and Vormittag
volunteered to work on the committee.
Glazier mentioned that the City had received a grant
from the EPA to provide a waste management workshop for
small to medium sized businesses. Glazier stated that the
staff had decided the original intent of the grant was no
longer feasible and suggested that maybe the money would be
used for other environmental programs. Glazier stated he
would check with the EPA to see if that was allowed and
report back to the Commission. A committee was selected to
propose programs if indeed the EPA would allow the
$3,000.00 to be put for other purposes. Golombek, Russell,
and Maes volunteered if a committee was needed.
