I. CALL TO ORDER
KEEP ENGLEWOOD BEAUTIFUL
April 1 O, 2001
Chair Brereton called the regular meeting of the Keep Engl ewood Beautiful Commis sion to
order at 6 :30 p .m .

Huffaker (absent without notice )
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Action: Mr. Fish moved; Mr. McCahill seconded. The Minutes of the March 13,
2 001 meeting be approv ed. Motion carried .
Ill. VOLUNTEER HOURS
Ms. Fenton collected the volunteer hour forms.
IV. ADOPT A BUS STOP
Monica Thomas, Adopt-A-Stop Coordin ator for RTD , presented information to the
Commission on adoptin g bus stops. She st at ed RTD provides the trash containers and
bags , and the sponsor is asked to empty and replace the trash bags on a regular basis.
There is no expense to the sponsor. RTD also provides a sign at each bus stop with the
sponsor's name. Mr. Fish asked if there was a contract. Ms. Thomas stated it is a one year
contract. Ms. Thomas left information for the Commission to distribute, as well as free bus
passes. Ms. Thomas left the meeting.
Ms. Berens st ated she w as willing to maintain the bus stop near her house, and asked if the
Commission wanted their name on the sign . Ms. Fenton stated that if the Commission
wanted to enter into the contract with RTD it would need to be reviewed by the City
Attorney first. Ms. Berens stated she would put her name on the sign and would sign the
contract. The Commission stated it would allow the KEB logo on the sign. Ms. Fenton
asked Ms . Berens to have Ms. Thomas contact her for the logo.
V. GOOD NEIGHBOR DAYS
Ms. Fenton stated Waste M anagement indicated they would donate $5,000 for 250 $20
coupons to be redeemed M ay through August. Ms . Fenton point ed out the Citiz en has
alread y been published and mailed for Apri l/May; it would be difficult to notify citizens of
any distribution dates in May. Mr. Fish set the following dates for coupon distribution:

• Saturday, June 23, outside library, 10 a.m. -1 p .m.
• Thursday, June 28, Recreation Center, 7 p .m . -9 p.m.
• Saturday, July 21, outside library, 10 a.m. -1 p.m.
• Thursday, July 26, Recreation Center, 7 p.m. -9 p.m.
Mr. Fish stated that perhaps Tom Munds could do an article in the Englewood Herald on
Good Neighbor Days .
VI. ARBOR DAY
Ms. Fenton stated that in Mr. Huffaker's absence, she would contact him and ask him to
coordinate the two Arbor Da y events -one at Cornerstone Park , and the other at Cushing
Park -with the Commissioners by telephone . Ms. Berens stated she had received seed
packet donations from various local companies . The Commission decided to take the
Adopt-A-Stop information to the Arbor Day events.
VII. COMMISSIONER'S CHOICE
Ms. Bippus stated she was interested in the Adopt a Garden program . Mr. Stankorb sta ted
the Commission maintains a flower garden for Parks and Recreation, and stated h e would
explain the program to her after the meeting.

Ms. Ferber stated she is interested in either the Commission or high school students •
cleaning up the trail behind Englewood High School.
Mr. Edwards provided a brief update on the golf tournament and asked staff to provide a
sign-up sheet for the May meeting. Ms . Ferber vo lunteered to ass ist w ith the tournam ent.
VIII. STAFF'S CHOICE
Ms . Fenton stated the Curren t Pl anner pos1t1on wi th the Community Deve lopment
Department has not been filled, but the position has been re-advertised. This person
provides staff support to the Commission .
IX. ADIOURN
There was no further business to be brought before th e Commission .
Action: Mr. Fish moved; Mr. Mccahill seconded: The meeting be adjourned. The
motion carried; the meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
