Costs were higher and the co-pays did not offset much of the costs. The effort
cost KEB a significant amount of its remaining operating funds for the year.
Odd materials brought in by participants drove up costs.
Commissioner Olson suggested providing a Fall insert in the city utility bills to
alert people to the effort and to get more participants.
Commissioners discussed various ways to make this effort more economically
viable for the Commission. Options included:
• Raise the co-pay amount from $10.00 to $20.00.
• Consider inviting other small communities or Arapahoe County to par-
ticipate.
• Look for grant funding that may be available for environmental clean up
projects.
Commissioner Howard volunteered to look into available grants.
IV. SOUTH PLA TIE RIVER CLEAN-UP
There was a poor turnout for the cleanup and it was suggested that the limited
turnout was due to limited advertising.

VII. PHONE BOOK RECYCLING
Phone book recycling will take place again in January. Commissioners agree
that it was a good program although the summer program was somewhat
problematic. Everyone agreed that we need a different system for hanging the
banners and that placement of ·the dumpster was critical to the success of the
project.
VIII. HOLIDAY DECORATION JUDGING
Holiday decorations in Englewood will be judged on December 9. Eight vol-
unteers are needed for the event. Awards will be presented at the City Coun-
cil meeting on December 15.
IX. GOLF TOURNAMENT
The committee for next year's golf tournament will be set up at the November
meeting. Commissioner Edwards agreed to chair the committee. Four ( 4)
volunteers are needed .
The discussion centered around the fact that the most successful golf tourna-
ments got a very early start in finding sponsors.

to move the meeting to November 18.
