II. 5-K RUN
Country Buffet Restaurant has an interest in sponsoring the 5-K Race. Specifically, they have
volunteered to donate muffins, and water bottles with the Old Country Buffet logo. They al so
have a "bee mascot" who could attend to hand out balloons . For the 5-K grab-bag , they could
include coupons for free children's dinners with the purchase of an adult meal.
Jim Woodward suggested that donation of the w a ter bottles would be better for the Golf Tour-
nament , inasmuch as we are already looking into water bottles as a substitution for tee-shirts as
part of the entry fee of the 5-K.
Samara Ferber gave an update regarding the 5-K subcommittee .
The route for the 5-K has been given to the Parks and Recreation Department and to the Engle-
wood Police Department.
The need to hire an event planner was discussed , and a motion was made to appropriate funds.
The event planner was recommended by BKB and has worked on the "Running of the Gree n"
race in downtown Denver. The event planner will mainly work on race day activities -such as
timing, setup, music , and awards if we decide to give them. Mr. Fruchtl said hiring cannot be
done until the event planner has submitted a contract and city legal staff reviews and approves
said con tract. A motion to "engage" the event planner was made and seconded.
We should utilize "active.com" to advertise the 5-K run.
Matt B. with the Englewood Public Schools has expressed the opinion that members of the foot-
ball and soccer teams that he coaches could serve as volunteers on race day .
• Fistful-for-Fathers has been unresponsive after initially expressing interest in volunteering.

KEB will have approximately three weeks worth of advertising in the Englewood Parks and Rec-
reation Guide prior to race day . The ad must be submitted by May 24th, and must be one-half
page. Mr. Crotty is working on the design of this ad. Ads should also be posted at Sunflower,
Baily's, and Curves for Women. The size of posters was discussed, and 11 x 14 was popular, but
if this size is unavailable, KEB would opt for 8 x 10 .
III. CELL-PHONE RECYCLING
The proposed cell-phone recycling contract is under review by the City legal department.
IV. GOLF TOURNAMENT
Anthony Fruchtl suggested offering sandwiches for lunch, as last year's food was not well ·-
received. A photographer from T-shots will be available to take pictures of players, and $1 from
every sale of photographs will be donated to the KEB .
The Sub-committee agreed to meet next Tuesday, the 18 th' at 6:30 p.m. in any available room at
the CityCenter.
V. GOOD NEIGHBOR DAYS
The Good Neighbor Days program will begin Saturday, May 15th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in front
