KEB will be charged per player for rental of the golf course as we do not meet the requirement of sixty players to receive a discount. This will cost approximately 20-30 dollars per player. Mr . Fruchtl will purchase a $75 .00 gift certificate from Cart Sports for the Raffle Prize. Raffle tickets will cost $5.00 each. Currently we have bowling coupons and Frisbees for the goodie bags . Daryl Kinton and Vale r ie Passerini have volunteered to try and round up last minute additions. Ap- proximately $5,595.00 in sponsorship and player's fees have been accumulated. It is un- clear how much our expenses will be to rent the golf course and cover player's fees. The threshold for a discount is sixty players, we have only thirty and each will be charged $20-30. Committee members are needed to attend the tournament, and act as hole watchers, set up signage, register players, and clean-up. Committee members wrote their availability down and this was given to Mr. Fruchtl. Jackie Edwards will check back with UPS regarding whether they still want to register a foursome. SK Fun Run: The Contract for the SK has been reviewed and approved by the city attorneys. Potential participants can now register for the race on active.com. (Following the meeting Samara Ferber scheduled a meeting with Mr . Wickoff of Eclectic Edge Even ts and Gary Hultberg with Englewood Parks and Recreation for June 17 1h at 4:00 . Minutes will be taken and all SK committee members have been notified and invited to attend). The Min- utes will be shared at the July 13th meeting . The race map has been submitted to the Public Works Dept. and the Englewood PD and is approved. The neighborhood streets will need to be shut down. We will use human barricades. Mr. Fruchtl will contact Matt Bednomz regarding his football and or soccer players filling this role. We have missed the May 24 1" deadline to get the race form into the Englewood Parks and Recreation Guide. Mr. Crotty will fix the misspellings in the Registration form and submit to Mr. Fruchtl so this document can be posted on the City's website. The coordinator of the Englewood Fun Fest has been unresponsive to Anthony's e-mails and phone calls to discuss the logistics of race day and space sharing. Cell Phone Recycling: Contract is awaiting approval. Household Hazardous Material Roundup: Scheduled for 9/11 and 9/18 from 8 am-2pm. The co-pay has been increased from $10.00 to $20.00. Committee members are needed to volunteer for two shifts each of these day s. Good Neighbor Days: Valerie Passerini, Eric Crotty, Jim Woodward and Daryl Kinton have handed out ap- proximately 95 Good Neighbor Days coupons. Phone Book Recycling: Eric Crotty called for a motion to approve phone book recycling, the motion died due to lack of second. The Commission noted that this drop off site is difficult to maintain. The Acoma property is currently for sale, and ensuring the site was free of trash proved trying last year. It would cost KEB $600.00 were the reasons given for lack of a second to the motion. Corn i ssioners' Choice: Dooley Gehr has a list of places to recycle various goods to submit to Mr. Fruchtl for submission on the KEB website . He also suggested a billiards or bowling tournament for future fundraising. Jim Woodward requested KEB brochures to hand out during the next Good Neighbor Days. Jackie Edwards said she has pulled some information from www.cafr.org for possible fund r aising/name recognition purposes. Eric Crotty feels that although the Golf Tournament has been a staple of KEB fundrais-· ing efforts, it suffers from a lack of interest by the community and committee members . Whether to plan for the 15th Annual Tournament warrants further discussion. Valerie Passerini is in agreement with Mr. Crotty's assessment of the situation and expressed similar misgivings about continuing with it merely for the sake of "tradition" as the H:\GROUP\BOARDS\Keep En g lewood Beautiful\Minutes\2004\KEB -06-08-04 .doc 2 • tournament appeals only to a very small group of residents. Ann Nabholz feels that it will be shame to discontinue the golf tournament. • • Olga Wolosyn relayed that Wal-Mart came through with a donation. A group discussion pertaining to the need to meet with City Council for a study session occurred. Staff's Choice: Mr. Fruchtl discussed how KEB is structured given the discrepancy between money raised through current efforts, and the cost of programs, specifically the Household Haz- ardous Waste Roundup. Meeting was adjourned; goodie bags for the golf tournament were stuffed. Valerie Passerini, Note-taker H:\GROUP\BOARDS\Keep Englewood Beautiful\Minutes\2004\KEB-06-08-04 .doc 3
