CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Keep Englewood Beautiful Commission met in regular session at 6:00 p.m. on July 13, 2004. Vice -chair Edwards presided . VOLUNTEER HOURS Members of th e Commission submitted completed Volunteer Hour forms for May and Jun e . IV. MEETING WITH CITY COUNCIL July 19 , 2004 The members of the KEB will meet with the City Council in Study Session on July 19. M s . Ed- wards will cont act Chairman Crotty to remind him of the meeting , and that he will be speaking on beh a lf of KEB at the meeting . V. GOLF TOURNAMENT Ms . Nabholz led discussion reg arding the importance and hi s tory of the golf tourn ament as a fund rai s ing event for the Commission. Diss a tisfaction was expressed with the luncheon menu. Ms . Nabholz indi c ated th at s he would be willing to serve as Chair for the 2005 Golf Tournament. Possible relocation of the tourn ament to the Arrowhead Golf Course w as also di scussed . Ms . Wolosyn discussed "thank-you's" to all sponsors of the Tournament. She asked for a listing of all those who sponsored the 2004 Tournament. The "thank you" can come from the Commis- sion and/or the City Council representative . Motion carried. Ms. Wolosyn suggested that the focus of the Golf Tournament be directed to businesses, and the focus of the 5-K Fun Run be on citizen participation. VI. 5-K RUN The 5-K Fun Run was discussed. Ms. Passarini is vice-chair of the Committee . • The F-K Fun Run posters were approved. • • • o 25 large copies of the posters are needed. o 50 copies of smaller 8.5 x 11 posters are ne e d ed. Barricades have been located by Mr. Fruchtl at less cost than first quoted . There has been no contact from the individual who offered members of the football team to help during the Run. Ken Ross will need to have a Permit for the 5-K Fun Run . • A "tri-fold" brochure will be printed (300 copies) -printing commitment from Mr . Simp- son of Community Development. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Ms . Wolosyn will have the tri-fold printed on light green paper . Ms. Wolosyn will check to make sure copies are made in a timely fashion . A list of places the sub-committee considered for the 5-K Run was determined . Idea proposed to have a sign-up table for 5-K event at s upermarkets and Englewood eve- ning events. Ms. Passarini and Mr. Crotty will plan to attend the 7/28/04 Chamber of Commerce meeting . Members of the Chamber of Commerce have been called regarding the 5-K Run . Prizes are to be given for groups; possibly 54 prizes will be needed . Where do sponsors have their name appear? Water bottles for runners . T-shirts are great promo for following year activity -something to revisit. Cannot use "active.com" because of legal concerns with City of Englewood . Concern with access of Run with website -hard to get changed; hard to get registration form on-line . Kinton wants to be sure that we place posters in places families frequent. Posters will be available in Anthony 's office by July 16, Friday morning . Division of Chamber of Commerce list among members of the committee, and pl ace posters of the Run . Also discussed was the Commissioners' need for more information; copies of information will be made available. Mr. Gehr expressed his thanks to Mr. Woodword for assuming Mr. Gehr's responsibility o the Good Neighbor Day coupon distribution program. Mr. Woodward reported an update on the "litter survey"; he has worked on this in conjunction with Mr. Roth and Mr. Gehr, and covered the entire Englewood area . Mr. Kinton discussed the meeting with City Council on July 19th; and commended Mr. Fruchtl for his work with the Commission. Ms. Olson stated that she was glad to be back after an absence. VII. STAFF'S CHOICE Mr. Fruchtl commented on a problem with the GND Coupon Distribution of June 26th; no KEB members were present to distribute the coupons, and staff received reports of up to 50 residents who had appeared at that time to get a coupon. Staff distributed co upons to those who called the office during the ensuing week -between 20 and 25 coupons were given out through the office, with records of names, addresses and phone numbers kept for input on the computer program.
