CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Keep Englewood Beautiful (KEB) Commission was called to order at 6:35 p.m., Vice Chair Gehr presiding. Present: Absent: Ernie Arterburn, Eric Crotty, Mike Fraietta, Dooley Gehr, Stan Gorsky, Cornelia Humphreys, Daryl Kinton, Valerie Passerini, Pamala Sampson, Olga Wolosyn, Jim Woodward (excused) Jon Brick, Linda Olson A quorum was declared present. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES March 8 , 2005 The Minutes of March 8 , 2005 were considered for approval. Mr. Woodward moved to amend the Minutes to reflect the election of Dooley Gehr as Vice-Chair. • The Minutes of March 8 , 2005 were approved as amended . • III. 5-K FUN RUN A list of sponsors to-date was available for review . It was noted that "New Balance Shoes" would like to be added as a sponsor. Ms. Passerini reviewed the sponsorship levels: • $ 50 --$100 =Bronze • $101 --$249 =Silver • $250 --$499 = Gold • $500 + = Platinum Discussion ensued regarding determination of the various sponsorship increments; as of now , the cited incremental differences stand. If a commissioner secures a donation, they must e-mail that sponsor's logo to Scott Gorsky for inclusion in the brochure; this information must be e-mailed to Mr. Gorsky no later than May 13 , 2005 . Mr. Gorsky will then e-mail the completed brochure to Mr. Fruchtl for printing no later than May 15 , 2005 . Mr. Gorsky distributed a copy of the tri-fold brochure; members reviewed and made corrections. The corrected brochures were returned to Mr. Gorsky. The addition of a small map was dis- cussed; some participants and residents may not be exactly sure where Belleview Park is located . The City of Englewood web-site will be revamped , up and running by May 15, 2005. H:\GRO UP\BOARDS\Keep Eng lewood Beaut iful \M inutes\2 00 5\KE B 04-12-05 .doc - • • • ------- It was agreed that levels of sponsorship will be spelled out on the T-Shirts, and that sponsors in the Silver, Gold, and Platinum categories will be cited on the T-Shirt. Platinum sponsor logos must be prominent, and will be used on the T-Shirt; Silver and Gold sponsors will not have logos on the T-Shirt, only text. Bronze sponsors will be in noted in the goodie-bags, and possibly on the banner. Mr. Fraietta has compiled a list of media and press contacts . IV. EDUCATION SUBCOMMITTEE Goals Mr. Gehr read the Goals discussed by the Education Subcommittee . Discussion addressed topics such as: • Get the KEB and the schools to work on a joint project; • Address the lack of centralized information on recycling; • Make recycling convenient ; • Target areas with rec ycling low participation ; • Upgrade the KEB link on the City's web-site , or the • Possible development ofKEB 's own web page. The ide a of having businesses sponsor magnets was discussed; it is a way to get the KEB website link out there (publici z ed?) without using paper. Mr. Fraietta suggested people could be enticed to visit the website by offering a price to a spe- cific visitor -the 15th person to visit , for ex ample. Ms. Wolosyn and Mr. Woodward are working on having a KEB month or week, to be designated by the City Council. Mr. Gorsky expressed concern regarding the time spent on topics during the course of meetings. He does not want to see one topic slighted in discussion because too much time was devoted to another topic . Mr. Crotty pointed out that Commissions approach goals incrementally, and is- sues can be worked on concurrently. V. GOOD NEIGHBOR DAYS Coupon Distribution Coupon distribution days and volunteers are : • May21 Valerie Passerini and Eric Crotty • June 2 Ernie Arterburn and Mike Fraietta • June 9 Olga Wolosyn and Jim Woodward • June 11 Pamala Sampson • June 16 Cornelia Humphreys • June 18 Scott Gorsky Not all cited dates may be necessary to distribute all coupons. STAFF/COMMISSIONERS CHOICE Mr. Fruchtl will investigate whether having churches as "table sponsors" during the 5-K Run presents any conflicts. Mr. Fruchtl was asked to have sponsor donation forms available at Community Development Department for pick-up. Mr. Fruchtl will be before Englewood City Council on April 18 to discuss the possibility of the City of Englewood assuming payment for the Household Hazardous Waste Roundup in Septem- ber. KEB members were encouraged to attend the Council meeting on April 18 1 h . There was no further business brought forth for discussion; the meeting was declared adjourned .
