KEEP ENGLEWOOD BEAUTIFUL
June 14, 2005
I. CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Keep America Beautiful Commission was called to order by Chair
Crotty at 6:30 p.m.

A quornm of the Commission was present.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
May 10, 2005
The Minutes of May 10, 2005, Page 1, were amended to reflect Ms. Olson as the contact person
for the Veterinary Clinic, and to also reflect that Ms . Humphreys did not attend the May meeting .
The Minutes of May 10, 2005 stand approved as amended on Page 1.
III. VOLUNTEER FORMS
May, 2005 Activities
Members in attendance completed the "volunteer forms" for the month of May, 2005, and sub-
mitted them to Staff Liaison Frnchtl.
IV. 5-K FUN RUN
August 27, 2005
Ms. Passerini distributed 5-K Run Sponsor sheets. She will follow-up with as many sponsors as
possible.
Mr. Frnchtl will coordinate installation of warning lights and street/traffic barricades with Nick
Johnson of the City of Englewood Traffic Division.
Mr. Gorsky stated that we currently have about $2,500 to $2,600 in cash. Expenses will be for
Eclectic Edge and table rental.
Mr. Frnchtl stated that sponsor Jason Jumper wants to bring his own booth; there will be no
charge to Mr. Jumper. Mr. Crotty noted he will contact Mr. Jumper.

Eclectic Edge needs brochures for distribution at running stores. Mr. Woodward will call Wil-
liam to discuss the number of brochures needed. Mr. Fruchtl suggested getting the color bro-
chures to some sponsors, particularly New Balance Shoes . Fifty (50) brochures will go to New
Balance; Mr. Crotty will deliver them. Mr. Gorsky suggested placing brochures on cars of peo-
ple attending other races . Mr. Fruchtl will have black and white brochures printed for hand-outs ,
and members can get the brochures from Mr. Fruchtl.
Posters will be printed by the next meeting on July 12. Logos for poster sponsors must be sub-
mitted by July 6, 2005 via e-mail to Mr. Gorsky.

Black and white brochures be printed for distribution to running
stores; brochures are to be available from Staff Liaison Fruchtl.
Mr. Brick will mail postcards to last year's runners approximately one month prior to the 2005
race .
Mr. Gorsky suggested making magnets advertising the Race .
Mr. Crotty discussed putting information regarding "second time around Denver m etro" material
on the City WEB page. Mr. Fruchtl advised that anything placed on the WEB page requires re-
view by the City legal department.
Ms. Wolosyn will contact the Sports Authority about I-Shirts for the Race .
Mr. Gorsky will go to AMF Broadway Lanes to pick up passes for free games .
Ms . Passerini reviewed the Sponsor List , and assigned council members to follow-up with the
listed businesses. Ms. Wolosyn has contacted Swedish Hospital and Wal-Mart; and will follow-
up with them concerning sponsorship . Ms. Passerini emphasized the need to get as many run-
ners as possible to make it worthwhile for the sponsors .
The placement of a banner across South Broadway advertising the 5-K Run was discussed.
Placement of this banner in conjunction with advertisement for the "Fun-Fest" activities is to be
explored . Mr. Woodward will discuss this with Jerrell Black of Parks & Recreation.
V. GOALS
Objective 3-1 -Household Hazardous Waste
Mr. Brick inquired about plans to educate the public regarding household hazardous waste. Mr.
Fruchtl stated that a lot of information is on the City WEB page regarding hazardous waste. Mr.
Fruchtl pointed out that curbside pick-up costs the City $80 per pick up. Ms. Olson suggested
distribution ofliterature on hazardous waste at the Fun Fest. Mr. Woodward suggested a proc-
lamation by City Council designating September as Hazardous Waste month.
Next month, the Commission will discuss "urban litter".

Objective 3-3 : Light Pollution
VI. STAFF CHOICE
Riversweep -September 24, 2005
The clean-up along the South Platte River -Riversweep -is scheduled for September 24, 2005
at 8 :00 a.m., and is sponsored by the Greenway Foundation. Mr. Fruchtl asked who will be in
charge of tents , tables , clean-up , etc. Mr. Woodward stated that he would discuss this more with
Tara Michelli at Parks & Recreation Department.
Additional dates for distribution of Good Neighbor Days coupons, through the month of July,
were discussed . Additional dates of June 23 , June 25 , and June 30 were also considered for cou-
pon distribution. Mr. Fruchtl stated that he will compile the dates , and e-mail members so the y
may volunteer to handle distribution duties on specific dates .
VII. COMMISSIONER'S CHOICE
Mr. Woodward state d he would like to get the extra T-Shirts from the 2004 5-K Run and try to
sell them for $2 to $3 each.

The motion carried. The meeting was declared adjourned at 8:45 p.m .
