CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Keep Englewood Beautiful (KEB) Commission was called to order at 6 :30 p.m . in the City Council Conference Room, Chair Olson presiding . Present: Adams, Brick, Humphreys, Montague, Olson, Rockman, Rothe, Sampson, Mccaslin Absent: Sabrsula (excused) Staff: Harold Stitt, Community Development Manager Ryan Huffman, Staff Liaison II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There were corrections to the February 14, 2006 Minutes. Mr. Rothe moved; Mr. Brick seconded: Motion passed. TO APPROVE THE FEBRUARY 14, 2006 MINUTES AS AMENDED. Ill. INTRODUCTION OF STAFF LIAISON Mr. Stitt introduced Ryan Huffman to the Commission as their new staff liaison . The Commission welcomed Mr. Huffman to the Commission. IV. SK FUN RUN Vice Chair Sampson reported on the SK Run. She requested a motion to keep the same action plan as last year. Ms. Montague suggested setting up a sign -in area . Mr. Brick stated barricades should be monitored more closely. Vice Chair Sampson asked the committee to review the action plan for discussion at the April meeting. The subcommittee will meet again with Eclectic Edge. Mr. Brick moved; Ms. Montague seconded : Motion passed . TO CONDUCT SK FUN RUN USING THE SAME ACTION PLAN AS 200S. Mr. Stitt stated the SK posters would be posted in the Civic Center by the weekend. I . • V. PARTNERSHIP COMMITTEE Mr. Brick reported on the partnership subcommittee and the organizational chart was discussed . Mr. Rothe moved; Ms. Montague seconded: TO APPROVE THE ORGANIZATIONAL CHART. Motion passed. VI. EDUCATION COMMITTEE Ms. Adams, Ms. Montague, Mr. Rockman, and Vice Chair Sampson volunteered to serve on the Education Committee. The y will meet and choose a chair. VII. 2006 CALENDAR Chair Olson set forth the following te ntative project dates with the Commissioners and asked them to place them on their calendar . o Good Neighbor Days is held May through August. Coupons donated by Waste Management are distributed by Commissioners on scheduled Saturdays and • Thursdays during those months. • o Household Hazardo us Waste Roundup is tentatively scheduled for September 9 and 16 . The event starts at 8 a.m . and ends at 2 p.m ., and is a joint event with the City of Littleton . o Leaf and Tire Event is a JOint event with the City of Littleton and is tentatively scheduled for October 28 and November 4. Dates are contingent upon whether or not a location can be secured. o Holiday Lighting Event judging is tentatively scheduled for December 5, with awards to be presented at the December 18 City Council meeting. VIII. STAFF'S CHOICE Mr. Huffman suggested id eas for students to volunteer. He stated he will provide updates to City Council on the Commission's activities throughout the year. IX. COMMISSIONER'S CHOICE Mr. Rockman asked for education sub-committee meeting parameters. Chair Olson encouraged them to develop a vision based on the goals listed in the Environmental Quality section 9 of the Englewood Comprehensive Plan. Since this committee is just restarting, it is open for the committee to brainstorm ideas and begin to set a direction in keeping with the goals. 2 • • • Mr. Huffman distributed the Comprehensive Plan to the Commissioners. Chair Olson asked the Commissioners to review the Comprehensive Plans and stated she would like to discuss it at future meetings. One goal will be considered at each meeting Vice Chair Sampson congratulated Ms. Montague on her article in the Englewood Citizen. Mr. Rothe moved; Mr. Brick seconded: Motion passed; meeting adjourned . 3
