CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Keep Englewood Beautiful (KEB) Commission was called to order at 6 :30 p.m. in the City Council Conference Room, Chair Olson presiding . Present: Absent: Staff: Adams , Brick, Humphreys, Montague, Olson, Rockman , Rothe, Sampson , Sabrsula, Mccaslin Humphreys (excused) Harold Stitt, Community Development Manager Ryan Huffman, Staff Liaison II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Rothe moved; Mr. Brick seconded: TO APPROVE THE MARCH 14, 2006 MINUTES AS AMENDED. • Motion passed. • Ill. MEETING ATTENDANCE Mr. Huffman asked the Commissioners to e-mail or call him prior to the meeting if they are unable to attend so their absence can be marked excused. IV. SK FUN RUN The Commission reviewed the SK plan and approved its use with minor changes. The subcommittee will meet on April 18 at Ms. Sampson's house. Chair Olson and Mr. Huffman will follow-up with Eclectic Edge. Ms. Sampson stated she would prefer not contacting Sports Authority. Mr. McCaslin suggested the contact be through Douglas Garrett. Mr. Brick stated Sports Authority wasn 't a major sponsor last year, and Mr. Rothe pointed out that they donated T-shirts. Ms . Sampson stated she would attempt to meet with Mr. Woodward prior to the April 18 meeting. Mr. Woodward and Mayor Wolosyn will sign the letters sent out to potential sponsors . Mr. Huffman stated that information on the SK was placed in the Recreation Activity Guide. Mr. Huffman also stated that the band "Outlandos de Mar" has offered to play at the SK. He will follow up after he talks to Eclectic Edge . • • • v. GOOD NEIGHBOR DAYS The Commission decided to be gin distributing coupons in June on Saturdays in the first floor lobby outside the library, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Mr. Huffman will bring a sign up sheet to the next meeting, and will place the dates on the City's website and in the Englewood Citi z en. VI. SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP Ms. Montague suggested that commissioners ought to be on no more than two subcommittees. The intent of the subcommittees is to have fewer people focus more specifically on work to be done and then bring decisions to the KEB monthly meetings for rulings . The smaller subcommittees will allow more focused energies on the many areas covered under KEB. Chair Olson stated that a full Commission is needed to fill out all the subcommittees and encouraged that City Council fill the Commission in the next appointment phase in June 2006. VII. PARTNERSHIP COMMITTEE The KEB brochure was discussed . Mr. Brick stated the Commission needs to look at the budget. Ms. Adams asked about changing the logo and stated she would do a mock-up . Mr. Huffman stated he would bring information on the Commission's budget to the next meeting. Ms. Adams stated the Committee is looking at refrigerator magnets for citizens and also rotating writing the column for the Citizen . Ms . Sampson stated Tri-R will not place recycling bins at Kimberly Village apartments due to past problems. The Dry Creek bridge opening at Progress Park is scheduled for May 6. The Commission will have a presence at Community Development's tent. Ms. Montague will coordinate with Mr. Huffman. The SK will be promoted at the bridge opening. VIII. STAFF'S CHOICE Mr. Huffman will bring the new KEB Commission revised model to the next meeting. He also stated there is approximately $40,000 in a tree replacement budget that we may have access to partner. Mr. Stitt will contact the Parks and Recreation Department to see about partnering in the "1000 Trees" program . Ms. Adams stated she would like more information on the 1000 Trees program and asked who would contact Baily 's regarding the SK. Assignments will be made at the next meeting for calling all possible donors for the SK. Ms. Sabrsula suggested splitting RTD into territories. Mr. Brick stated that if the Nuggets went to the playoffs, he would not be at the next meeting. He thanked the new Commissioners for volunteering. 2 • • • R t he moved ; Mr o d d· . Adams secon e .
