APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Bronson moved: Ms. Montag u e seconded: Motion carr ied. Ill. OLD BUSINESS A. Mission Statement TO APPROVE THE MARCH 13, 2007 MINUTES AS WRITIEN . M s. Kirk distributed inform ation prepared by Mr. Ho ag land. Chair Sab rsul a asked if the Co mmi ss ion wished to c hange the mission state m ent. Ms. Olson stated she would lik e to see the Commission develop a tag lin e, which summari zes th e mis sion state m ent. Mr. H oag land sta t ed the Ordinance is very spec if i c that the Commission is to rep rese nt Keep A m eri ca Beautiful and its programs. He pointed o ut that the mi ss io n state m e nt does not m e ntion Ke ep American Beautiful. M s. M o ntag u e clarified that the Ordinance c han ged the Commission's name from "En glewood Clean, Green and Proud Commission" to "Keep Englewood Beautiful Commission"; the mi ss ion sta t e ment w as then also changed. Commissioners expr esse d co n ce rn s th at th e nam e "Keep Englewood Beautiful" and the mi ss io n statement mi ght misl ead th e public that th e Commission is only inte rested in flowers and tr ees -beautifying Englewood. Wh e n in fact, it is invo lv ed in ed u ca tin g the com munity on e nviro nm e ntal, recycl in g i ss ues. Discussion ens ued. Commissioners sugges ted add in g the KAB logo to the mi ss io n state m e nt. It was the consens us of the Comm iss io n to keep the mi ss io n stateme nt as i t c urrentl y ex ists . 1 • B. Th e ev ent is promoted on th e w e b site and in th e Citi zen as th e dates get clos er. • V. 2007 GOALS Ms. Kirk stated that she and Mr. Stitt went b efo re Counci l requestin g mon ey for th e Comm i ss ion's budge t. Th e Co un c il wants addition al information rega rdin g t he Commission's events before i t appropri ates mon ies. Th e Co mmi ss ion rev iewe d their current programs and the goa ls o utlin ed in th e Compre he nsive Plan. STAFF'S CHOICE Ms. Kirk distributed the updated Board/Commission rosters. Ms. Kirk reminded Commissioners of Bob Simpson's, Director of Community Development, farewell reception on April 19. VIII. COMMISSIONER'S CHOICE Parks and Recreation and South Suburban are holding Arbor Day events on April 21. Commissioners interested in getting involved with Arbor Day are encouraged to attend one these events. It was strongly encouraged that a Commission liaison be appointed to work with the Englewood schools and South Platte River group. Ms. Cross volunteered to work with the schools and Ms. Olson volunteered to research the Greenway Foundation. It was asked what the City was doing to promote energy efficiency in its buildings and if the City used E-85 alternate fuels or hybrid vehicles. The City should set the example for its citizens.
