A. Lamberts
TO APPROVE THE OCTOBER 9, 2007 MINUTES AS
AMENDED.
Mayor Jim Woodward introduced Christiana Lambert and her parents Sherman and Trina.
Christiana is the student who made the graffiti video the Commission watched at the
October meeting. The Code Enforcement Advisory Committee also viewed the video.
Discussion ensued regarding placing the video on the website and copyright issues. Ms.
Lambert granted the City permission to place the video on the website without music until
the copyright issues were resolved .
The Commission congratulated Miss Lambert on making a very powerful video. It was
suggested also placing Miss Lambert's bio and a background about the video on the web.

It was also suggested placing an article in the Englewood Citizen informing citizens that the
video is on the website .
B. University of Denver Students
Linda Olson introduced three students from the leadership program at the University of
Denver -Darcy Struckhoff, Jenny Nelson, and Troy Magney. They are interested in
sustainability issues and devoting a year to the Commission. The students discussed various
issues in which they are interested in researching and developing for the City. The students
stated they could seek volunteers for the Commission's projects at the DU campus and
Volunteers at Outdoor Colorado. The students stated they were available to the
Commission beginning in January. Discussion ensued regarding a "charge" for the
students. Commissioners will share ideas with the students via email. The students will
research other comparable cities and present a formal report at the January meeting. The
Commission will then develop a plan. Commissioners asked the students to email their
findings prior to the January meeting.
Audra Kirk stated she would add the students' contact information to the roster. The
students are attempting to gain funding to attend the National Keep America Beautiful
Conference in early December.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
A. Education Sub Committee Update
Laurel Dygowski met with Hank Long, Director of Library Services. She suggested perhaps
in the Spring, the Commission give a presentation in the library on environment issues, such
as xeriscaping, water conservation, etc. The library has a meeting room that holds
approximately 40. Mr. Long just needs some perspective dates. Englewood Parks and
Botanic Gardens were suggested as possible speaking sources. Linda Olson suggested a
xeriscaping award program for the community.
The committee suggested doing an article in each issue of the Citizen. Audra Kirk stated
articles should be submitted to her and then she will send them on to Leigh Ann. Leigh
Ann will then put them in the Citizen as there is space . Laurel has an article ready for the
next issue, and Brett East volunteered to write for the March issue.
B. Leaf and Tire Drop
Approximately 200 cars came through on November 10, and 113 tires were collected. City
of Littleton reported that was twice the volume from the week before.
It was suggested the Commission market themselves at the event next year, submit a report
to City Council on the event, and update the community on the number of bags and tires
collected through the Citizen. Audra stated she sends a report to Council after each
Commission event.
Suggestions for next year included safety cones around the mulching truck, traffic flow,
• signage, and two more volunteers for each shift.

C. Web Site
Chris Hoagland stated he has been through the City's website and cannot find the
information on the Code Enforcement shopping cart hotline. He suggested it be placed on
the Commission's page as well.
For citizens to reach the recycling sheet, they must go through the Commission page. He
would like the "Environmental Resources" directly linked to the resource list, have the list
state that it is sponsored by Keep Englewood Beautiful, which is linked back to the
Commission's home page. Audra Kirk stated she would see if that could be accomplished.
Chris Hoagland stated there are three additional links on the bottom of the Commission's
page that only discuss recycling in general, which are not helpful tools in Englewood. He
presented Audra with suggestions for the Commission's website.
V. NEW BUSINESS
A. Holiday Lighting
Audra Kirk stated the judging will be held on December 11. The van will leave at 5:30 pm
in the parking garage.
VI. STAFF'S CHOICE
Audra Kirk circulated a letter from the Denver program coordinator for the River Clean Up.
VII. COUNCIL'S CHOICE
Bob Mccaslin thanked the Commissioners who participated in the Leaf and Tire Drop Off.
VIII. COMMISSIONER'S CHOICE
A. Linda Olson asked Bob Mccaslin for an update on the Oxbow project for the January
meeting.
B. loe lefferson stated it might be his last meeting. He apologized that he has been unable
to participate with the Commission as much as he would have liked. He believes in the
mission of the Commission and would like to stay involved if he has time.
C. Chair Holly Montague stated she would like the Commission to look at retention for
Commissioners. She asked the Commission to think about how to educate applicants as
they are going through the application process specific to the Commission. Council assigns
citizens without their knowing how much is involved with the Commission. Bob Mccaslin
stated he would give more direction at the next round of interviews.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m .
