1. Meeting Opening
MINUTES
January 12, 2010
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p .m . in the City Council Conference Room. Chair
Bayless presiding.
2. Roll Call
Present: Sunshine Cross, Brett East, Cal Grant, Dianna Miguez, Theresa Sabrsula, Tom
Winthrop, Susan Bayless, Jennifer Jones, Gary Nordland er, Audra Kirk (Not voting), Jill Wilson
(Not Voting).
Absent/Unexcused: James Garnett.
Guests: Gene Zumberg
Jill W i lson was introduced as the new Council liaison, replacing Bob Mccaslin.
3. Approval of Minutes
There were no Minutes to approve.
4. Old Business
• Composting Classes -Gary is hosting a class at the Malley Center on March 20.
• Holiday Decorating Event -There were 10 entries. Yard signs were not given out, only
ribbons and certificates . It was suggested recognizing property owners that decorate
without lights, wanting to be green .
• Community Garden -Susan will email information to each Commissioner.
s. New Business
• Eco-Fair -Theresa will organize a subcommittee; perhaps the fair can be tied into
another event such as FunFest or the Thursday evening concerts.
• Garden Tour-Susan is gathering participants' feedback and will invite the group to the
February meeting.
6. Staff's Choice
Audra had extra books to hand out and welcomed Jill to the Commission .

7. Council Member's Choice
DUG will be at City Council's study session next week to explain funding for the Community
Garden . There is currently $15,000.
8. Public Input
Gene Zumberg entered the meeting. He asked why the City does not have offer recycling .
Discussion ensued . Gary will contact the Shriners to determine why they removed their
recycling bins, and Susan will contact the Elks Club . Recycling and Single Trash Hauler will be
placed on February's agenda .
Councilmember Olson entered the meeting. She stated she enjoyed her time on the
Commission . She will support the Commission on streamlined trash hauling and recycling for
citizens, as well as health initiatives.
9. Commissioner's Choice
Brett thanked the Commission for the time off.
Tom stated that Englewood High School students are hosting a Recycling 101 class at the Malley
Center on March 10.
Commissioners welcomed Jill.
10. Adjourn
Th e meeting adjourned at 7 :35 pm.
