1. Meeting Opening
MINUTES
July 13, 2010
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Conference Room . Gary
Nordlander pre sid ing.
2. Roll Call
Present: Brett East , Theresa Rinker, James Garnett, Gary Nordlander, Audra Kirk, Cal Grant,
Cate Townley, Chris Brennan, Candie Dalton, Kaylene Proctor, Cyndi Bowie
Absent/Excused: Dianna Miguez, Tom Winthrop, Susan Bayless, Jennifer Jones , Jill Wilson
3. New Commissioners
Commissioners introduced themselves and newly appointed Commissioners were welcom ed.
4. Approval of Minutes
Motion: Approve the May 11, 2010 Minutes as written . Moved by Jame s Garnett,
Seconded by Cal Grant . Motion carried.
5. Old Business

• Englewood Cleanup: Commissioners signed up to distribute coupons on Augu st 7 and
21 . It was suggested coupons b e di str ibuted at the Thursday evening concerts and
Kidstage in 2011.
• Depot Flower Garden: Commissioners signed up to weed the garden . Commi ssioner s
discus sed the possibility of asking Bi shop Elementary to participate and take ownership
of a section of the garden.
• Community Appearance Index: It takes approximately 2-3 hours to canvas the City, and
it is done once a year. The report needs to be submitted to Keep America Beautiful by
the end of the year. Jill Wilson and Kaylene Proctor volunteered . One to two additional
people would be beneficial.
• • Composting Class: There was a good turnout with approximately 15 people; 13 were

part of the community ga rden . Cla sses were adverti se d in the Englewood Activity
Guide.
• Garden Tou r : The tour was cancelled due to lack of participation. Tho se who
participat ed la st year want ed to tour the gardens this year; therefore th ey didn 't sig n up
to participate . It was suggested that ne xt year the participants tour the garde n s
together the evening before the actual garden tour. To garner more interest, po stcards
will be mailed early next year to resident s who have gardens to encourage th em to
participate . Commissioners were encouraged to submit four to five addresses.

6. New Business

• Fun Fest : The ev ent is sc heduled for Au g u st 14, 10 a.m . -5 p.m ., at Be ll eview Pa rk . The
Commission will have a booth at the event. Coloring books and crayons will be give n
away. A volunteer sign-up sheet for Commi ssion events will also b e available at th e
booth.
• Board a nd Commission Appreciation Night : The event will be held at Pirate's Cov e on
August 9. Commissioners need to RSVP to staff by Augu st 4 .
• House hold Ha zardous Was t e: The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 11 and
18, 7:30 a.m. -2 p .m., at the Englewood ServiCenter. On September 1 8, a
Commis sioner is needed as the contact person since staff will not be at the event.
7. Staff's Choice
Upd ate d roster s were distributed. Staff inform e d Commissioners that Sun shin e Cross resigned.

Brett asked if the Commi ss ion had ever participated in Colorado Cares ; it ha s not.
