Susan Bayless presiding. 2. Roll Call Present: Cyndi Bowie, Chris Brennan, Candie Dalton, Brett East, Susan Bayless, Chair, James Garnett, Jennifer Jones, Gary Norlander, Kaylene Proctor, Jill Wilson, City Council Liaison (Not voting), Dianna Miguez Absent/Excused: Tom Winthrop, Cal Grant, , Theresa Rinker, Cate Townley ~ ~ 3. Approval of Minutes Motion: Approve the July 13, 2010 Minutes as written. Moved by James Garnett, Seconded by Gary Nordlander. Motion carried. 4. Elections Motion: Elect Brett East as Vice Chair. Moved by Gary Nordlander, Seconded by Chair Bayless. Motion carried. ~ 1.§J 5. Old Business r<:::b ~ • Englewood Cleanup Coupons: The final distribution is at the Community Garden on August 21. • Community Garden Update: The garden looks very good, and the shed is in place. Two gardeners are on the steering committee. • Community Appearance Index: Jill, Kaylene, and Cyndi volunteered. Code Enforcement asked that they be notified of any problem areas. • Garden Tour: The Commission discussed marketing for next year. A plant swap was also discussed . • 6. New Business • • • Fun Fest: The event is held at Belleview Park; 10 am -5 pm. A sign up sheet was circulated; currently only Audra and Candy are volunteering. The Commission will not support the event next year if there is not more interes t. The Commission's table will have information on its annual events, and will hand out coloring books and crayons. Commissioners also decided to hand out Cleanup Coupons. • Household Hazardous Waste: The event is scheduled for September 11 and 18. A sign up sheet was circulated. There is a new vendor for electronics recycling. 7. Staff's Choice Commissioners were reminded to submit their volunteer hours. A staff member will not be present at the September meeting . 8. Council Member's Choice Council is struggling with the budget. There will be furlough days and budget cuts. 9. Commissioner's Choice Denver Urban Gardens will discuss composting on August 21 for the Community Garden. Commissioners are invited to attend. 10. Adjourn The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m .
