a. Safety Stop Cyclist Law
Former head of transportation for the City of New York will present at “Moving
Forward” conference, sponsored by Bicycle Colorado.
Mr. Knaddison shared a presentation prepared by Bicycle Colorado concerning
the standard State policy to allow bikes treat stop signs as Yield signs, still stop
at red lights, but still open right-of-way laws. This policy is meant for
municipalities to adopt as they so choose. He cited areas around the country
Transportation Advisory Committee

where law is a success. Statistic show either no impact or a reduction in
crashes. There are benefits for both bicyclists and drivers.
Need to better understand the benefits. No known organized opposition. Mr.
Knaddison to meet with area bicyclists for feedback and recommendations.
Being that the idea must pass council, the committee agreed to reach out to
city council members for input on how to present material at a council meeting.
The members discussed media outreach to gain public support, possibly
through Englewood Spring catalog edition.

methods.
